Fun fact: this was our 10th travel meeting in 6 years! It all started with our founder Allard, who ran the very first meetings all by himself. These days, our amazing team and our travel friends join him all here to inspire you and share their stories.

You might be looking at the new Brisbane 2032 Olympics & Paralympics logo and thinking… is THAT a cockatoo? 🦜

Yep, it is! And there’s a lot more we’d like to point out 👀

🔥 The crest of the pink cockatoo doubles as the Olympic flame
🗺️ The shape of the bird is the state of Queensland
👁️ The eye sits right where Brisbane is
🪶 Three feathers and two feathers = 2032

The Paralympic version uses the sulphur-crested cockatoo, the white one with the yellow crest you’ll spot all over Australia. It was chosen partly because it’s easier to see for people with vision impairments.

Our two favourite rafting spots are hands down in Queensland, Australia and honestly, picking between them comes down to what kind of day you're after. And the good news is that - we can book both tours from Cairns Adventure Group for you.

Barron is our go-to for a quick adrenaline fix. It's only 20 minutes out of town, so you're barely done with breakfast before you're already bouncing through grade 2-3 rapids. Perfect if you're short on time, bringing the kids along (12+), or if you want to squeeze rafting in alongside another Cairns adventure that same day.

Tully is a special one. A full day out, grade 3-4 rapids, water guaranteed year round thanks to the dam release, and it's genuinely one of the best rafting rivers in the country.

How many have you seen? Australia is home to unique road signs and here are some of our favourites... 🚧

Let's start with the big one... Out on the Nullarbor you'll spot a sign warning you about camels, wombats and kangaroos, all on the same post. 🐪 Yes, actual wild camels. There are hundreds of thousands of them roaming outback Australia and most people have no idea.

Koala crossing signs along the roads are probably one of the popular ones 🐨 Great Ocean Road and the Adelaide Hills are two of the best spots for them, about as cute as road safety gets. The reason they're there is simple though, koalas cross at night moving between trees and drivers don't see them coming.

Up in the Daintree you'll find cassowary crossing signs 🦤 for a giant flightless bird that can hurt you if it wants to.

Head further into the Northern Territory outback and you'll spot the classic kangaroo signs everywhere 🦘

Then the tone shifts fast 🐊 crocodile warning signs mean exactly what they say, so stay well back from the water's edge, we're not kidding!

Not every sign out here is about wildlife though. Floodway signs turn up on outback roads that go months without seeing a drop of rain.

We’ve got a layover update from our founder, .travels ! 🐉 He turned his 4 days and 3 nights (4d/3n) layover through Beijing on to the Netherlands from New Zealand into a bucketlist adventure with The Dragon Trip | Group Adventure Tours

1️⃣ Day 1: They started the morning with a briefing from their Adventure Leader in Beijing, then made his way out to the Great Wall. Hiked an unrestored stretch before setting up camp on a deserted section, and closed out the evening with sunset views, a Mandarin lesson, and stargazing around camp.

⛺ They pitched their tents and slept right on the stones where soldiers once stood guard, with nothing but the wind, stars and the mountains for company.

🌄 Day 2: Woke up before sunrise to catch it breaking over the Great Wall, then headed back to Beijing for a free afternoon, some in the group chose the 798 Art District, Tiananmen Square, and others the Summer Palace

🏯 Day 3 (optional): A wander through Tiananmen Square into the Forbidden City, wildly huge, 980 buildings and 24 emperors of history packed into one complex. Climbed up Jingshan Park after for a view over the whole palace grounds, caught a Chinese acrobatics show that night, and ended it all with Peking Roast Duck, because you can’t leave Beijing without it.
