Alas … the search for lime continues - turns out I had a bag or organic fertilser.

I have finally found some lime 👏👏 Not sure if its the right type🤔🤔
So after a quick visit to my favourite kitchen vendor in the Old market for some weighing scales - Ive put together a quick and easy mini fructose indigo vat to test it out 🙏🙏🙏
In Australia I was buying it in 500g lots - here it comes in 50kg bags😱. So if its the right type of lime I am set up for many many vats of indigo! 👏👏

Got to love Cambodian life. This morning I woke to a strange bell sound - and looked out my bedroom window -and found some cows just munching away with their bells gently clanging. They are usually a couple of blocks away but I’m thinking that they’ve been borrowed to clear the block - which is overgrown - last time it was cleared it was burned- but with the rains everything is wet - so this is so much better❤️❤️

Highly successful trip to the market this afternoon. Found some fabric shops tucked in behind the fruit and veg with 100% cotton for $3 a metre. And found a new 20L pot - so I will get scouring with the soda ash I found at the supermarket- then mordant it with the Alum - then I can start testing some of the dye sources I found in the village. Hopefully once I get more organised I can start making my own ash water so I don’t have to rely on buying it in powder form.

Finally some success finding Alum - not in the convenient ready to go powder in the tubs I buy in Australia- but a fraction of the price - so I bought myself a mortar and pestle and all set to go!
