Latest addition to our booklets for sale: "Grant's Channel Bus and Ferry Company" From 1931 to about 1961 George Grant's buses served the people of the Channel as transport evolved from river steamers to roads. He also introduced the first two Bruny Island passenger ferries. This booklet tells his story and covers the other passenger services before, during and after his term. It also tells of the development of roads between Hobart and Kingston and down the Channel. Available from the Channel Museum gift shop for $5, open 10am - 3pm Sunday to Friday.

Orcas were spotted about on our Bruny Island Cruise today much to the excitement of guests and crew. Be prepared for some orca spam as we can never get enough of these magnificent animals.

Our crew believe they spotted around 8 orcas cruising the Bruny coastline.

Thanks to skipper Hamish for sharing this pic (which a lovely guest shared with him).

We get excited about a lot of things on our wilderness cruises but we do seem to get a little extra excited when we spot orcas.

Guests on our Saturday Bruny Island Cruise were treated to a sighting of four killer whales. Patrisha Newman-O'Neill captured this stunning image of one of them with the gorgeous black and white markings clearly standing out amongst the Bruny blues of sky and water.

On Easter Weekend join us for a dinosaur egg hunt in the Inala Jurassic Garden. ( South Bruny Island )
All ages welcome - $10 each ($10 for parents/guardians)
Sat 16th & Sun 17th April - Arrive anytime between 9am and 4pm and then take a self guided hunt around the garden with a Jurassic map to help you find six dinosaur nests.
At each nest you get a chocolate egg or dino sticker reward and stamp your map with a dinosaur image - collect all six stamps and you get a dinosaur toy to take home.

Story Dome // Nayri Niara good spirit Festival 22-25 April✨

The intention of Story Dome 22’ is an invitation into a deep listening journey. Ceremonially created, the Story Dome opens up a sacred space to listen & write, offering a rich program of poetry, spoke word, auditory art, live performance & film.

This space was launched at the 2019 Good Spirit Festival by its creator - Linda Brinckman, who is a previous mentee in Nayri Niara’s ‘Our Way Home’ program.

NEW WALK Take a walk with Tonia to the top

Sunday 27th March 8am-11am

Dr Tonia Cochran owns the 1,500 acre conservation property at Inala. She has lived here for over 35 years and knows every inch of the land. Take a walk with Tonia from the Jurassic Garden all the way through the forest to the very top of the property known as Ben Bullen with a phenomenal view down over Cloudy Bay. Along the walk, as well as birding with Tonia, you will learn the story of her involvement with the land and the diverse work she has done here over the years as Inala has evolved. Discover the parts of the property that far fewer people get to see and be rewarded for your climb with a special view of a unique corner of Bruny Island.

( Suitable for those who can walk up a moderately steep slope on forest trails at a gentle pace) Walk approx. 3hrs ( Bring a drink and a snack to enjoy at the top )
