🚌🌿 DOWN UNDER COACH TOURS – DAY 5 | DUBBO TO ARMIDALE 🌿🚌
Another wonderful day unfolded on the road as our Dubbo Zoofari adventure continued!
This morning, we farewelled Dubbo and watched the scenery change as we travelled through the beautiful New South Wales countryside. Our journey led us to Tamworth, Australia’s Country Music Capital, where we enjoyed a delicious lunch, warm hospitality and a taste of the welcoming spirit this region is known for. 🎶🍽️
With happy hearts and full stomachs, we climbed back aboard and continued onwards and upwards through the picturesque New England region. Rolling landscapes, open roads and charming country views accompanied us all the way to Armidale, where we’ve now settled in for the evening.
One of the true highlights of this tour has been the wonderful food, friendly faces and genuine country hospitality we’ve encountered at every stop. We’ve certainly been made to feel right at home! ❤️
With laughter filling the coach, great company by our side and new memories being created around every bend, it’s hard to believe our adventure is beginning to draw to a close.

Now this is what you call a BIG wash and scrub!
One of the wonderful experiences during our visit to Taronga Western Plains Zoo was watching the elephants enjoy their daily bath!
Did you know that washing the elephants isn't just about keeping them clean? It's an important part of their daily care, helping keepers check their skin, monitor their health and build trust with these magnificent animals.
Armed with buckets, hoses and big scrubbing brushes, the keepers certainly have their work cut out for them!
And judging by how relaxed the elephants looked, we'd say they were thoroughly enjoying their pampering session! 🐘❤️

🦒🐘🦁 DUBBO ZOOFARI – THIS IS WHAT WE CAME HERE FOR! 🚌🌿
What a fabulous couple of days we've had with our Down Under Coach Tours crew at Taronga Western Plains Zoo!
Our much anticipated Zoofari adventure began with Group 1 heading off to Zoofari Lodge for their overnight safari experience, complete with incredible wildlife encounters, wonderful food and a little taste of Africa right here in Dubbo! 🦒🥂
🐘 Yesterday, the whole gang was back together!
After breakfast, Groups 1 and 2 reunited for a fantastic two-hour guided tour of Taronga Western Plains Zoo.
From magnificent elephants, rhinos and lions to zebras, hippos, cheeky meerkats, monkeys and plenty of feathered friends, there was certainly no shortage of wildlife to admire!
We even had the opportunity to visit the zoo's wildlife hospital and witness some of the wonderful work being done behind the scenes to care for the animals.
Lunch was another highlight, relaxing at the zoo café overlooking the islands, where the ring-tailed lemurs and spider monkeys provided their own entertainment! And let's not forget those fascinating African wild dogs! 🐒
🦒 Last night, it was time to swap places!
Group 2 enjoyed their own special overnight experience at Zoofari Lodge, while Group 1 returned to our Dubbo motel for a well earned rest.
🚌 And now it's time to hit the road again!
This morning, we're all reuniting after breakfast, ready to begin our journey homeward, with more beautiful countryside, good company and no doubt a few more laughs along the way!
This really is what we came for – incredible wildlife, wonderful experiences, fabulous food, great company and memories that will last long after the journey ends! ❤️
And as I always say, life is a journey, not a destination!

🦒🐘🦁 DUBBO ZOOFARI ADVENTURE – DAYS 3 & 4! 🚌🌿
What a fabulous couple of days we've had with our Down Under Coach Tours crew!
Yesterday, after managing to get everyone safely out of Old Dubbo Gaol, we stepped back in time with a fascinating guided tour of historic Dundullimal Homestead. What a beautiful property, with so many stories to tell!
Then it was time to divide and conquer! Group 1 headed off to Zoofari Lodge for their overnight safari experience, complete with wildlife encounters, wonderful food and a little taste of Africa right here in Dubbo! 🦒🥂

🔒 Doing Time at Old Dubbo Gaol!
Well, here's something you don't see every day, a group of perfectly respectable travellers patiently waiting to be let INTO jail!
Our first adventure this morning took us to the historic Old Dubbo Gaol, where our Down Under Coach Tours group was eager to discover what life was like behind those imposing walls.
The site's history dates back to 1847, when it began as a courthouse lock-up. Over the years, the gaol housed everyone from petty criminals to some of the colony's most notorious offenders.
After closing as a prison in 1966, the gaol was saved from demolition and officially reopened as a tourist attraction on 15 December 1974, a little piece of history proudly recorded on the plaque beside the entrance.
And judging by the smiles this morning, our travellers were quite happy to be going behind bars!
The only question now is whether we can get everyone out again, we've still got a Zoofari to enjoy!

🦒🐘 DOWN UNDER COACH TOURS – DUBBO ZOOFARI ADVENTURE! 🚌🌿
Days 1 & 2 | 12–13 October 2026
What a wonderful start to our six-day Dubbo Zoofari adventure! Two days on the road, plenty of kilometres travelled, some fascinating sights and, of course, lots of laughter and great company along the way!
🌞 DAY 1 – HERVEY BAY TO GOONDIWINDI
Our adventure began bright and early yesterday morning, departing Hervey Bay and travelling through Maryborough before continuing south to collect more of our travelling companions around Brisbane.
With everyone comfortably on board, we headed west, stopping at the Gatton Visitor Information Centre for a lovely lunch and a chance to stretch our legs.
Then it was onwards through the beautiful Queensland countryside to Goondiwindi, where we settled in for our first night.
🌿 DAY 2 – GOONDIWINDI TO DUBBO
This morning began with a little sightseeing around Goondiwindi.
Our first stop was the spectacular Nungwai Steel Art, featuring the imaginative creations of local artist Angus Wilson. These incredible sculptures, made from recycled materials and displayed beside the Cunningham Highway, are certainly something to behold!
We also visited the famous Gunsynd Memorial, honouring the legendary racehorse affectionately known as the Goondiwindi Grey. 🐎
Then it was farewell Queensland and hello New South Wales as we crossed the border and continued our journey south.
🍽️ Lunch in Narrabri was an absolute treat at the Outback Shack! Sensational food and a wonderful country welcome made this a real highlight of the day.
Our afternoon travels took us through to Coonabarabran, where we enjoyed a refreshing stop at the Visitor Information Centre.
Here we discovered the fascinating remains of a Diprotodon, an enormous prehistoric marsupial resembling a giant wombat. Just one of the many interesting surprises to be found when exploring our beautiful country!
🚌 From Coonabarabran, we continued through the countryside, finally arriving in Dubbo.
After settling into the Oxley Motel, we enjoyed a lovely dinner at the Dubbo RSL before calling it a night.
🦁 AND NOW THE REAL ADVENTURE BEGINS!
Tomorrow, the first half of our travelling party heads off for their much-anticipated Dubbo Zoofari experience! 🦓🦒🐘
There's plenty of excitement ahead, and we can't wait to share the next chapter of our adventure with you.
For now, it's time to recharge the batteries after two wonderful days on the road.

🚌🦒🐘 DUBBO ZOOFARI – HERE WE COME! 🐘🦒🚌
The bags are nearly packed, the coach is ready, and tomorrow morning we're hitting the road for another wonderful six-day adventure with Down Under Coach Tours! 🌞
Our journey takes us through beautiful country Queensland and into New South Wales, with charming country towns, fascinating history and some spectacular scenery along the way.
From the colourful silo art at Yelarbon to Goondiwindi, Narrabri and Coonabarabran, we're making our way to Dubbo for the much-anticipated Zoofari Lodge experience! 🦓🦒
There'll be wildlife encounters, a little sightseeing, plenty of country hospitality and, no doubt, lots of laughter along the way!
And of course, the best part of any coach tour is the wonderful company, the friendships formed and the memories made. ❤️

More beautiful memories from our weekend at the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers with Down Under Coach Tours 🌸🚌💐
What a wonderful few days it was, surrounded by incredible colour, stunning gardens and, most importantly, such a lovely group of people. There was plenty of fun, laughter, friendship and great conversation, along with delicious food, comfortable accommodation and so many special moments along the way.
These are the trips that remind you it’s not only the places we visit, but the people we share them with that make the memories so special. ❤️
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make our three-day Carnival of Flowers getaway such a happy one.

What a brilliant way to finish our wonderful weekend away!
After stopping at Pohlman’s Nursery and enjoying morning tea at the Esk Bakery, we continued on to the Beerwah Hotel, where we were treated to a delicious lunch that everyone thoroughly enjoyed. 🍽️✨
Now we’re back on the coach with our lovely tour group, making our way home after a fantastic weekend filled with beautiful gardens, great food, plenty of laughs and wonderful company.
Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this such a memorable Down Under Coach Tours getaway. ❤️🚌🌸
