Hi, I thought I would stop being slack and send a bit of a run down of our Tasmanian trip. The drive to Melbourne was about five days and a lot of fun with the other two Motorhomes.

Carnarvon Gorge.
By: Mick Adams (Shirley Adams)

Walked a total, today, of 18 kays!
Highlights package, of, the Gorge.
Carnarvon, what a magic place,
if your mind, can just ignore,

the rigours of, a six hour walk!
Four main places, on display.
Did the Art Gallery, up for starters, then,
Ward’s Canyon’s too, today.

No way we’re we coming back tomorrow, so,
Grey Nomad myths, we shattered!
Missed out, we did, on morning tea.
Instead, we climbed them ladders!

The Amphitheatre, mate, a must, it is,
though, everything’s, up hill!!
Moss Garden, was, our final trip,
but, heaps of walking, still!

Near on, three kays, in the heat of the day!
Trudged, along we did, in silence.
If we wouldn’t have scored, some shady seats,
reckoned the scene, coulda turned, to violence!

Got back to camp and a shower, earned.
Snoozed the afternoon away!
Our Grey Nomad Gods, we thank, because,
most days, ain’t like, today!!

The Gemfields.
By: Mick Adams (Shirley Adams)

Rubyvale’s on, the Gemfields.
Ready to be, a millionaire!
Set our camp, and went for a walk, I did.
Saw a sparkle, way down there.

Musta been a hundredth of a carat,
but, mate, was I, now hooked!
Went fossicking, early next morning,
then, a mine tour’s, what we took.

Got some gravel. Soon we’re into it!
Small gemstones filled our bag.
It was when we got it assayed, that,
our shoulders, sorta sagged!

Sapphires, ‘bout a dozen, but,
true gemstones, they were not!
That Golden Hole’s evaded us,
though we gave it, our best shot!

So headed down to Emerald, ‘cause,
today’s Grand Final, day!
Put up the aerial, soon as we camped.
Black screen, was our display!

Lucky Kenny’s got a picture.
I’ve invited myself, round.
Or else, the iPad’s all set up.
In beers, I’ll surely, drown!

Our next main stop, Carnarvon Gorge.
Near on, two fifty kays.
Grey Nomads reckon it’ll take,
a week, of driving days!

You’ll note we’re heading, southwards now.
A reality check’s in order.
We wonder, what awaits us when,
crossing Queensland’s, southern border!

Travelling Round.
By: Mick Adams (Shirley Adams)

So, tell me why, you travel so much,
when, in God’s waiting room, you live?
This question regularly posed to us.
Same answer, we still give!

You gotta get out, of your comfort zone!
See what else, there is, on offer.
And, do it when you can, so that,
closed borders, ain’t no stopper!

So, what did we see, this time around?
Did Queensland, inside out!
First the Country Way, up to Bundaberg,
then, to Hervey Bay, thereabouts.

Onto a flight, out to, the Barrier Reef.
T’was there, we spent, five days.
Interacting with, all the wildlife there,
like Lady Elliot’s, Manta Rays!

Then off, we were, to the Outback.
Saw Isa’s, three day rodeo!
That action, it was non stop, mate.
A truly brilliant show!

From there to Lawn Hill Gorge, it was,
to camp at Adele’s Grove.
Eighty kays of corrugations , there,
and back, was what we drove!

The Gulf had then, put out a call.
Sunsets up there, quite grand!
Six nights, spent at Karumba , were,
just one more than, we planned.

Round Atherton, got to cool right down.
On most days, yes, it rained.
Still saw enough, to bring us back,
Again, and again and again!

Camped at,Mareeba’s drive in.
Had tea, and caught, two shows.
Then, did the coastal strip, to the Daintree, where,
right to the beach, rainforests, grow!

Caught up with mates. They showed us round.
Free camp and croc tours, all thrown in.
Then, time to mosey, on back, south,
but, we ain’t hurrying!

Slowly travelled down, to Townsville.
On Magnetic Island, did a stint!
Separated from our motor homes.
It’s harder than, you think!

Now, back we are, reunited!
For Charters Towers, we’re now headed.
Near a bridge, a little, out of town,
are where, our rigs are bedded.

You ask us why we travel, mate?
Just imagine the sights we see!
The landforms and the wildlife,
and the excellent, company!

Up close to see crocodiles, platypus,
and manta rays and sharks.
There’s snakes and turtles, camels too,
in landscapes, some, quite stark!

Tree kangaroos and emus, and,
near every kinda bird!
Getting friendly with koalas, is,
much better, than we heard!

Just one regret, we have this time,
making another trip north, necessary,
Unlike past trips, we missed right out,
on seeing a cassowary!

Watching the day being born, and die, again.
Seeing, waterfalls and gorges.
Just sitting round a raging fire,
each experience, mate, if forges,

a greater love, of our wide brown land.
The appreciation, grows, of our home.
It broadens, both mind,and spirit,
each chance, we take, to roam!

I hope, your question’s answered.
You see, everything’s part of my Church,
and I want to see it, time and again,
afore, I finally, fall off, my perch!! 😀😀

Amarac Sculptures
To Lake Dunn, out from Amarac.
A statue tour, we took.
It goes for more’n, two hundred kays,
but we took the tar, us sooks!

There’s a Ram, and Harry Readford,
Captain Starlight’s dog, and horse.
An Emu, and, her Biker Chicks.
Johnathan Thurston’s there, of course!

Two ‘Roos, and a Goanna mate,
were pedalling, down, that road.
Couple a Jabirus, a fishing, but,
Rainbow Serpent, needs ta grow!

Them Prarie Fowl, those bustards,
was a cuddlin’ up to Mick.
A Frilled neck lizard, greeted us,
and mate, did he look schmick!

They say fish rot, down from the head.
Our “Spring Fish,” did disgrace!
But, that Echidna, won us back.
Them sculptures, back on pace!

A Red Claw, ended our, impromptu tour,
but, the wildlife, came, to play.
If I tried to count, them emu, mate,
it’d take, at least, ten days!

Brolgas, out there, dancing!
Wedge tailed eagles, soared on high.
Then greeted, near our campsite, with,
a, black cockatoo, fly by!

Now camped, we are, near Amarac.
Mate, free camps, on all sides.
The boys, they’re cooking, up a feast,
to impress, their lovely brides.

The fire, mate’s, a cracker!
Dinner drinks, both pre and post.
Then, before we Fokkers, head to bed,
some marshmallows, there, to toast!

We Fokkers, we’re on Tour.
We lit out from the Premier state, to beat that lockdown north.
Passed immigration, south of Stanthorpe, as a bunch of us, set forth.
Heading to the Gulf we are, on an extended break, cause,

We Fokkers, we’re on tour!
Yippy - yey yay. Yippie- yay- yoh.
We Fokkers, we’re, on tour.

Made it out to, Lady Elliot. Those Manta Rays, they’re grand.
Then, off to Fraser Island, for, Wazza’s tour of, the sand.
Saw dingoes chase a fisherman. and whales, and eagle rays.

We Fokkers, we’re, on tour
Yippie -yey -yay. Yippie -yey-oh
We Fokkers, we’re, on tour.

Got out to Isa’s Rodeo. Three nights, camped inside the gate.
Saw all them champion Cowboys.
Two concerts, we saw, Mate.
Those bare back riders crazy, mate. Them bull riders, quite insane!

We Fokkers we’re on tour.
Yippie - yey - yay. Yippie - yey - oh.
We Fokkers, we’re,on tour.

Mullet got called up to the microphone, to sing this chorus, out.
Beat the others, by a landslide, ‘til,
this young girl, belted out,
the best rendition, ever heard, to claim that massive, prize!

We Fokkers, we’re on, tour.
Yippie - yey - yay. Yippie - yey- you.
We Fokkers, we’re, on tour.

Next time, he’s up there singing, mate, his testicles, we’ll squeeze
He’ll hit them high notes easy, and,
those judges, will be pleased.
Those prizes, we will share, then, cause,

We Fokkers, we’re on tour.
Yippie- yey - yay. Yippie - yey - yoh.
We Fokkers, we’re, on tour.

Now, headed for, the Gulf, we are.
It’s time to see, the sea.
Mud crabs, and Barra, there to eat,
then, to the Sunset Lounge, we’ll be.
A photo, through, a schooner glass,
of that orb, going down, because,

We Fokkers, we’re on, tour.
Yippy - yey - yay. Yippy-yey-yoh.
We Fokkers, we’re, on tour.

Yippy - yey - yay. Yippy - Yey yoh.
We Fokkers, we’re, on tour.

Mount Isa, but a Memory.
That rodeo, but a memory, now,
but, on the memory banks, it’s been branded.
Every facet, of, that operation,
mate, sets the National standard!

If improvement, needs to happen,
it’s, Big Al, that Rodeo Clawn
A few new lines. Bit better timing, but,
used ta be, renowned.

He had all the actions, learned, down pat.
And said, he once rode bulls.
Mate, he’s IQ, backed, that story up,
or, could be, just a stunt, he pulls!

One cowboy, got, no sense o’ bulls.
“Long Neck”, had, feet,of clay!
At least ten bulls, they gored him, mate.
CPR, saved him twice, today!

Head ‘n body, fully, torn apart.
Should o’ been terminal, for, Old Son.
But gaff tape, sorta, stitched him up,
with, a broomstick, up his, bum!

We topped, the water, up, we did.
The dump point, too, was used.
But “Two Cocks,” he had problems,
so,
a bucket, mate, he choosed.

That dump point, too far, off the road.
His hose, just wouldn’t reach.
I loaned him one, that screwed, right on,
but, the airlock, it was breeched!

Told Kenny to blow back, ‘least two times,
but, to, suck in, once! My words!
Mate, Kenny, didn’t hear, because,
he’s chewing, now, on turds!

We cleaned the slate, his sins forgot,
but, at the rest stop, here, tonight,
“Two Cocks”, got no reception, ‘cause,
his TV, died o’ fright.

Gregory Ups & Downs

Called into that,same, old roadhouse,
that serviced, Burke and Wills.
Saw Mullet, checking out, the sunglass stand.
Smiles lit up, us band, o’ dills!

Mullet’s checking out, his hairdo.
Making sure, none’s, outta place!
Been reading up, on his reviews,
since, wearing that microphone, on his face!

Lynnie’s, not happy with, her GPS.
Some, choice words, she has chose!
Less’n Old Mate, pulls his finger out,
he’s about to be, deposed!

Sends her, wrong ways, on them roundabouts,
then, in a laconic voice,
it tells ‘em, all the short cuts, but,
It’ll lose ‘em, mate, no choice!

Mother Fokkers had, a slow, old day,
‘cause Dobba, she clammed shut!
Could be, something to do, with the picture frame,
where that TV, once, hung up!

Could do a Pub meal, for tonight.
Gregory’s got, a special’s board.
Mick’s turn to cook, so, got his vote!
Just the beer, he can’t, afford!

A noodle run, down, grade four rapids.
Them camera bulbs, a flashing!
Don’t matter, what the era, mate.
Birthday suits, always, in fashion!

Rocks Fokker, Mick, he slid up, quietly.
Slipped his toes, in them, there, rapids.
Them waterways, in quarantine, now.
That water, brown, and tepid!

Embellishment, not me, strong point, mate.
The truth, and nothing but!
If that, was even, half way right,
my ditty shop’s, been shut!
