Visitors to Victoria’s parks and forests are being reminded that some roads and tracks across the state will begin to temporarily close from 1 May.

Closures help keep visitors safe and protect roads and tracks from winter damage caused by rain and snow.

Each year, Forest Fire Management Victoria, Parks Victoria and the Conservation Regulator enforce road and track closures across public land from June to November.

Before heading out, check road and track closure and local conditions:

➡️ Check the weather forecast

➡️ download the VicEmergency app

➡️ Check which roads are open and suitable for your vehicle

For more information, visit ffm.vic.gov.au/permits-and-regulations/closures-of-parks-and-forests or contact DEECA Customer Call Centre on 136 186.

Good news for those who love our pumpkin and blue cheese pizza. A nice harvest of this year's autumn crop will keep us well supplied this winter.

It’s not an unreasonable request, don’t enter private property.

Autumn colour awaits around every corner in town and it’s great to seek out the hidden gems.

However we ask you to respect PRIVATE PROPERTY and not enter yards, go through gates or climb fences for that better camera angle or different view. It’s also the case that not every front yard is public and every building an open museum. We ask everyone to respect that there are residents and holiday home owners who deserve privacy and not to have to that invaded. Also the flowers and autumn leaves (still on the trees) are for everyone to enjoy so please don’t pick them or pull off branches.

Finally everyone needs to be aware that there is an extensive CCTV network in Walhalla (well hidden) so you are being watched…hence why we know this poor behaviour of trespassing and garden theft is occurring. Sorry to be a bit firm this morning, but some of the stuff we’ve witnessed recently is beyond the pale!
