Stunning Stans
The group travelled further northwest today to the city of Khiva. The drive took us through desert, farming areas and towns and villages.
This evening we visited a beautiful palace and then some time in the old city of Khiva at sunset.
Looking forward to exploring more
of Khiva tomorrow.

A lovely (and slightly cooler)day in Bukhara today. The morning was spent exploring several historic sites and monuments. Lunch in a local home whose family also specialised in embroidery work was most enjoyable. Later in the afternoon we visited The Ark (citadel) before some free time to wander through the fascinating shopping areas and make some purchases.
Off to Khiva tomorrow.

The group set off from Samarkand this morning and travelled by high speed train to Bukhara. The journey took about one hour 45 minutes passing through mainly desert areas.
Once we arrived in Bukhara we had an enjoyable time learning all about the art of making silk paper and also miniature paintings which was most interesting. After a delicious lunch and time for a “siesta”, we then explored the Summer Palace and part of the Old Town before dinner in a roof top restaurant and wonderful views of the old town.
Looking forward to more exploring of Bukahara tomorrow. Weather perfect!

An amazing day in Samarkand today with time to explore many of the wonderful sites including the Observatory, Registan Square in the sunlight, the Necropolis and much more.

The group travelled up into the Fan Mountains this morning to a series of lakes and through remote villages. The road was a little rough but the scenery was stunning.
After lunch we crossed the border into UZbekistan and this evening enjoyed our first views of the main square in Samarkand and a lovely dinner.
Looking forward to more exploring of Samarkand tomorrow.

A very different day today for the group as we travelled north and west to Panjakent. The mountain scenery was rugged and awe inspiring with small villages and settlements in the valleys. Once we arrived in Panjakent we visited the Rudika Museum and the ancient world heritage site of Sarazym. Dinner at a local home included some traditional entertainment.
We head back up into the mountains tomorrow to the lakes region and then we cross the border into Uzbekistan. Weather great!

An absolutely fascinating day today in Dushanbe. Visits included the huge reclining girl Buddha, the extraordinarily opulent Nawruz Palace, various beautiful parks and Hissar Fortress. After dinner we drove through the city so we could enjoy the illuminations.
Off up into the mountains tomorrow. Weather perfect!

A busy and warm day in Tashkent. Visits to a ceramic workshop, the Old Town of Tashkent, a ride on the metro and also a visit to the museum.
Later in the afternoon we caught a short flight to Dushanbe and now in Tajikistan for a few days.
Weather warm and sunny!

The group enjoyed their last day in Kyrgyzstan exploring the market , time for a coffee and some serious shopping and then onto the museum. Our last lunch in Kyrgyzstan was most enjoyable before we headed to the airport for our flight to Tashkent. We landed safely and looking forward to seeing more of Tashkent tomorrow.
