Life didn’t stop after the accident, just doing it from a wheelchair now.
4x4, shooting, hunting, camping, adventuring, work, water skiing and proving life really does go on.

How I do it – mowing with a push mower

Not the usual setup… but it gets the job done.

Just have to stop every 5 mins to top the motor up with food and water.

How I do it – starting the push mower

Starting a push mower from the chair takes a bit of setup.

I’ll jam my foot or the chair into the rear wheel to stop it rolling, stabilise myself with one arm, then rip the cord with the other.

All about keeping it steady so I don’t pull myself forward with it.

Not the easiest way… but it gets the job done when I need to use it.

How I do it – shooting from the vehicle

Picked up a Racken Rest II shooting rest and a Powabeam Quick Draw Remote spotlight setup to make things easier and more stable from the driver’s seat.

Being in the chair, I can’t stabilise the same way, so having something like this makes a big difference for control and accuracy when shooting from the car.

Got it through The open range Toowoomba — they were really helpful in getting it sorted for me and making sure I had what I needed.

Got myself well and truly stuck crossing a creek after some big rains.

All the sand had been stirred up and was a lot softer than I thought.

To make it better, I’d left the winch controller at home, didn’t have my nerve pain meds, and ended up stuck there for a few hours.

A farmer came to help with his ute… didn’t work, so we had to bring out the tractor in the end.

4–5 hours later, we were out.

Good reminder to be prepared, and not take chances on crossings when you’re not sure

Unreal spot…

Then about 10 seconds later I’m on my back like a turtle 😂

Not every place is built for a chair, and sometimes you get it wrong.

But I’d rather end up like this than not get out here at all.

We laugh, get back up, and keep going.
