The first four days of our Camino hike have been amazing and a little challenging. I'm proud of our group and how we've finished our days exhausted but with a smile on our face.
We starting at the Porto Cathedral with a 7am blessing to see everyone on their way. We have then travelled along the river and coast following the shell and yellow arrows. The symbol of the Camino representing the many routes to Santiago de Compostela and the 270km we will be hiking.
We have travelled to Matosinhos, Costa Verde, Esposende and Viana do Castelo, All picturesque coastal towns and only a short drive from Porto 😁

Day 5 and we have been reunited with our luggage 🥳🧳

Although inconvenient it hasn't stopped us from exploring the beautiful cities of Lisbon and Porto and enjoying a w**ery and boat tour through the Douro Valley.

While in Porto we started with a wonderful 3 hour private walking tour with our guide passionate about sharing the art, history and food of this city.

The drive to the Douro Valley had us marvelling at the beautiful scenery with mountain ranges sheltering the w**e terraces. We stopped to visit Amarante along with 2 family run w**eries and a river cruise.

Our bags didn't make it to Lisbon... but we did.

The long-haul flight and new EU entry rules went fine, but the rules mean longer delays, so allow extra time between flights to clear customs.

Then our bags weren't on the belt when we arrived.

I'm still holding hope, as they contain everything we need for the 270km challenge of the Portuguese Coastal Camino, followed by our two-week small group tour of Morocco.

To be honest, after the initial excitement of arriving to explore the beautiful city of Lisbon and enjoy a food and w**e tour with a local guide, I woke the next day feeling pretty defeated.

We've bought some new essentials and we're still waiting on the bags. Porto is up next.
