💜Tonight the HMAS Whyalla will be shining Purple in recognition of National Sorry Day💜

National Sorry Day is an important day of reflection, healing, and acknowledgement for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, particularly members of the Stolen Generations, their families, and communities. It provides an opportunity for communities across Australia to acknowledge the ongoing impacts of past government policies and support continued healing and justice for survivors.

Represented in the native purple hibiscus, or desert rose, the colour purple was chosen by Stolen Generations survivors as a symbol of resilience, strength, and healing.

This year, the theme for National Sorry Day is 'From Sorry to Action'. It acknowledges that 29 years ago, the landmark Bringing them home report shared this history with the nation and made wide-ranging recommendations to address the enormous harm caused to the Stolen Generation survivors and their families. A generation on, many crucial actions have not been taken. Sorry without action is not enough.

If you’re passing by this evening, take a moment to see the HMAS Whyalla illuminated in purple as we stand in recognition, remembrance, and support. 💜

He’s back by popular demand! 🐙

Our crowd favourite Cuttlefish Concierge, Carlo Possagno, is returning to welcome visitors to Whyalla’s Australian Giant Cuttlefish aggregation season!

After fantastic feedback last year, we can’t wait to have Carlo back sharing his passion, experience and knowledge with visitors. A familiar face at Point Lowly, Carlo’s enthusiasm for our cuttlefish helps create a memorable experience for everyone who visits. From answering questions and sharing interesting facts, to helping people better understand this natural phenomenon.

Thanks Carlo, for once again diving in and helping showcase one of Whyalla’s greatest natural wonders! 💙🐙
