Join us aboard The Vintage Train, as we head to Traralgon on our first commemorative tour to mark 100 years since the first K class steam locomotive (K100) entered service on the 22nd of August 1922. Featuring our three K class steam locomotives K100, K183 & K190 on a rare triple header run!

Departing from Newport, Southern Cross Station, Flinders Street, Caulfield, Dandenong or Pakenham the three engines will run via the Pakenham line to Traralgon. Settle back in your compartment and before long, Melbourne will be lost in a trail of steam and smoke as we journey into the fertile farming district of the Latrobe Valley. The locomotives will work hard as we climb through the green Gippsland hills around Bunyip, Longwarry and Warragul, travel through the mysterious Haunted Hills, Hernes Oak and Morwell before arriving in Traralgon, where you will spend a leisurely afternoon. Enjoy a meal in a local hotel or café. Then relax back on the train as our locomotives begin their sprint westward on a course for home.

While you are experiencing what the City of Traralgon has to offer, our Volunteers will be busy turning and servicing the locomotives, preparing for our journey back to Melbourne in the afternoon. We will arrive back at Southern Cross Station at approximately 7.20pm.
For those who don't want to be confined to their compartment, the train will feature Club Car Moorabool with kiosk and open seating. We will also have our heritage luggage van 18CE opened up behind the locomotives as a viewing area to take in the sights, sounds and smells of the exciting triple header run.

*2021 SNOW TRAIN UPDATE*

Due to the current government restrictions recommending that all visitors have a COVID-19 test within 72 hours of departing Melbourne and receive a negative test (children under 12 years not included) before arriving in the Alpine region, we have decided to cancel the proposed Snow Trains for 2021 with the hope of resuming Snow Train operations to Gippsland in 2022.

Steamrail Victoria is intending to operate multiple regional day tours in the coming months, with further details to be released shortly. Keep an eye on our page and our website.
