Two hundred years ago, a friendship began between a Wollombi archbishop and a Spanish monk who went on to found a monastery on the other side of the country. This September, that story comes alive again inside our own St Michael’s Church.

Allegra Giagu spent more than a decade around the Wollombi Valley — her family ran the much-loved Panino restaurant, and she rehearsed at St Michael’s during breaks from her studies in London. She’s now Music Collections Curator at New Norcia in WA, and she’s bringing a piece of that archive home, alongside bandoneon virtuoso Owen Salomé.

St Michael’s has a way of drawing in music like this — ask anyone who missed out on the Opera performances, and they’ll tell you to book early this time.
