We can't believe it's been 2 weeks since we had over 1000 people join us for NAIDOC at Koonawarra Community Centre.
Thank you to all our performers who wowed us, all the wonderful organisations who entertained us and all those who ensured we were full of food and drink!
Most importantly, thank you to everyone who shared the day with us. We hope you had a day full of culture, joy and community.

What's On at Community Centre
Interested in something social, dancing, martial arts or do you have a young one who would enjoy Playgroup?

There are a number of classes now available at Horsley Community Centre.
Robothink, Clubbersize, Zumba, Taekidokai (martial arts), Bollywood dancing, Line Dancing, Illawarra Lace Group and Playgroup (under 5years).

Welcome to Term 3!

We have some awesome free programs running out of Koonawarra Community Centre this term.

CareWays Community Free Koonawarra Youth Connect program returns this Thursday from 2:30pm - 4:30pm. We have some awesome activities set for this term, come down and see for yourself!

Healthy Cities Australia will be back next Monday for Active In-Betweens.

The Go4Fun Program will kick off on Tuesday 29th of July, contact Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District for more information.

What a fantastic morning at the Koonawarra Community Centre NAIDOC Family Fun Day!

We loved being part of this vibrant celebration of culture, community, and connection. Our Teddy Bear Hospital was a crowd favourite — and we’re happy to report that every bear received top-quality care before heading home with a new family!

Due to the severe wind warning forecast for tomorrow, we have decided to hold our event indoors. You will still find us at Koonawarra Community Centre, but inside, where all our celebrations will continue as normal. 😊

The CareWays Community Story

CareWays Community is a not for profit organisation supporting people in the local community

HOW WE DO THIS

We work towards a connected, caring and supportive community by providing: IN HOME SUPPORT: supports people in the community through programs including Meals on Wheels, Personal Care, Domestic Assistance, Social Support and Respite Care. YOUTH SERVICES – providing young people of Dapto, Horsley, Koonawarra and Thirroul access to support, early intervention and mentoring. The service also provides a drop in service, Breakfast program, Holiday Activities, Events and Excursions. NEIGHBOURHOOD CENTRES: Dapto & Thirroul Neighbourhood Centres providing community support services that connects people to information and services that promote community capacity building, increased resilience and improved safety in the community. COMMUNITY SENSORY ROOM - run at the Horsley Community Centre, open to the general public - see www.careways.org.au for full details. ASSISTED SCHOOL TRANSPORT – the program provides students who have a disability, transport assistance under the Assisted School Travel Program. COMMUNITY CENTRES: Horsley Community Centre & Koonawarra Community Centre: CareWays manages the centres, including hiring of rooms to the community.
