MISSING IN INVERLOCH

Patricia Backhurst was last seen in Inverloch on Wednesday the 17th of March and she is believed to be wearing walking clothes, blue pants and white shoes

The Conservation Regulator is investigating the drowning of a platypus found entangled in an illegal commercial fishing net in the Thomson River at the Bruntons Bridge campground, near Walhalla, last week.

Unattended nets and traps in public waterways are dangerous for wildlife including platypus, turtles and rakali (native water rats), due to their underwater foraging behaviour.

The platypus was listed as a vulnerable species by the Victorian Government last month.
