Eagles Rest on Woodhill

Eagles Rest on Woodhill A peaceful getaway nestled in the mountain above Berry. Eagles Rest is the perfect escape for a weekend. It is a large home that is almost 75m from end to end.

Permanently closed.

Just 90 minutes south of Sydney is the beautiful township of Berry. known for its arts, craft and food - Berry is nestled just inland from the magnificent Seven Mile Beach and the mountains to the west. It is upon Woodhill Mountain - some 350m above sea level - that you will find Eagles Rest. Less than 10 minutes up the mountain road and you might as well be a million miles away from everything. A

s you enter the property through the gates the house is still a small journey yet (well not that far, a few hundred metres), allowing for the last few stresses of modern living to fall away. The first glimpse of Eagles Rest impresses you with size. Five bedrooms (three with en suites) all with fantastic Queen (one King) beds disappear into a house that is meant for people to gather, celebrate, rest and relax. There are two indoor eating areas - one that seats 8 in formality, the other that seats an incredible 14 with ease (and that's before the 8 seater outside on the deck). Accompanying the range of eating areas are two lounge/TV rooms (both with Foxtel - Satellite service). The smaller lounge room adjoins the large indoor fireplace and can happily seat 2 in the love chair through to 8 if company is preferred. This area is also ideal for the kids - with DVD player & Sony Play Station on call to amuse. The larger lounge is in The Great Room - at the eastern most part of Eagles Rest. This is where everyone can gather in their own space - with easily enough space for 20 people. The room is surrounded by glass (folding doors that open fully on a warm day), with views through 180 degrees from Gerrora to Nowra - and all the magnificence in between. Equipped with full kitchen, walk in pantry big enough to house everything you could possibly want, Bose entertainment system and super size flat screen TV - its the place to be from dawn (which erupts through the windows to dazzle every morning) to the stillness on a dark winters night. A deck runs run the entire house, and connects you to the double garage at the western end of the property. The ground level has an 2m pool table to pass a few hours, and upstairs in the loft are beds to sleep a further 10 people on those big family weekends (loft available for an extra $200 a night). Adjoining the garage is enough parking for up to 2 cars (6 more outside on ground), and as you leave that area and head into the trees further west there is a small deck area ideal for yoga, meditation of just a moment of tranquility.

We've a family tradition of not looking at the camera - something my dad would request before getting that candid family photo for slide night. Unfortunately, Billie had not been informed of what was required.

These last few days of family on the mountain crown an amazing 7 year journey filled with laughter, happiness and most importantly family.

It's also been one of my life highlights to be the temporary custodian of a magical place that we have shared with thousands of people along the way. From weddings, multi generational family gatherings, escapes with friends to retreats, we have loved being able to help others share the joy of Eagles Rest whilst creating their own special memories.

Thank you everyone for being a part of something so special.

We also had the pleasure this weekend of meeting the proud new owners of Eagles Rest - and in our final message we wish them much happiness, joy and and the best journey of experiences as they take the keys to Eagles Rest.

❤️

A little over seven years ago, having been looking at this shell of a home for two years, we became the very happy and a little nervous owners of Eagles Rest.

After 6 months of intensive rebuilding and renovation, the first of our over 2000 guests started a journey with us that created countless happy memories, with laughter and joy in abundance. It's been a true honour to have been a small part of those memories - and to all our guests (many of whom have been many times) - we are incredibly grateful.

By this stage you will have figured out what's going on I'm sure. But if you haven't, a little over a week ago someone had a look at the home and decided straight away it was the perfect place to start a new set of memories in their new home. We are unbelievably happy for them, but sad at the same time that our home on the hill will no longer be ours. It was also devastating to have to cancel future bookings in which new memories would have undoubtedly been created.

Thank you to my family and friends who have toiled away with us over the years for payment in return of firewood to burn and a bed to sleep on.

We've been unbelievably fortunate and will always cherish this chapter of our life - thank you for being a part of it.

It's almost time! The grass is green, the air is crisp, the home is refreshed and the mountain is waiting. With only a few dates left between now and the middle of next year, now is the time to plan that long overdue escape.

With lots of talk about net zero emissions by 2050, we thought we'd let your know that Eagles Rest is already playing it's part. With enough solarhart panels to power the average home for a month, coupled with 100,000 litres of filtered rainwater and a completely bio cycle septic system - we are now almost fully independent up on them mountain. Why not visit and leave your small footprints in our ones?

Fatso enjoying some high mountain grass in peace and tranquillity. Undoubtedly he's also looking forward to guests returning very soon.

Not sure what the freedom plan says about gathers of 3 - although it looks like an appropriate distance was maintained at times so police weren't called on this occasion. One benefit of absent humans - and recently fertilised lawns - very happy animals 🦘🦘🦘

With the home a little empty at the moment we decided to give a call. 30 panels and a battery later we are now fully self sufficient by day and often through the night - saving 20kg of CO2 emissions a day (even in winter) not to mention the electricity bills!

And, we will have power in the event of a black out.

Great guys - professional, super efficient and friendly - if you are thinking of going solar these local guys are a must.
