As Easter draws near, we take a moment to honor and remember the incredible sacrifices of those who selflessly served and gave their all. The Martyrs of New Guinea stand as a powerful testament to courage and devotion. These Christian clergy, teachers, and medical staff, alongside Papuans and visiting missionaries, paid the ultimate price during the Japanese invasion in 1942 and 1943.

Across denominations, a total of 333 church workers were killed, including:

Roman Catholic: 197

United Church: 77

Salvation Army: 22

Lutheran: 16

Anglican: 12

Methodist: 10

Evangelical Church of Manus: 5

Seventh Day Adventist: 4

🌟 Honour. Remember. Trek Together. 🌟

Pacific Star Adventures invites our courageous frontline first responders to walk the historic Kokoda Track this National Police Remembrance Day. 💙 Together, we'll honor the incredible sacrifices made by those who serve and protect, while embracing the powerful stories of resilience and courage etched into the track’s very foundation.

This year, we also pay tribute to the extraordinary legacy of Sergeant Major Bagita Aromau, a remarkable figure in police history. Originally from Milne Bay, Bagita joined the Royal Papuan Constabulary in 1916 and went on to dedicate five decades of service to law enforcement, retiring in 1966. During the Second World War, he spent three years in charge of the carriers on the Kokoda Trail while working as a supervisor at the Moresby Police Station.

Bagita’s service was recognized with numerous honors, including the British Empire Medal in the Queen's Birthday Honours, the 1939-1945 Star, the Pacific Star, the Defence Medal, the Australian General Service Medal, and the Police Long Service and Good Conduct Medal. His unwavering dedication continues to inspire generations.
