OVER $16,000 RAISED FOR NORTHERN NSW FLOOD APPEAL AT YARRAGON ALE HOUSE
The recent Northern NSW Flood Appeal held over the weekend of 18-20th March at the Yarragon Ale House was a huge success.
Many people attended the 3 day event in support of the flooded regions of Northern NSW donating goods, and contributing to the fund raising effort through raffles, silent auctions, a sausage sizzle run by the Drouin Warragul & District's Apex Club, and Karma Kegs donated by local Gippsland Breweries.
Ale House owners Damian Langley and Keltie Mullin, along with Drouin Warragul & Districtβs Apex Club representative Tony Forrest would like to thank all those who attended and supported the event, as well as the businesses and breweries who donated to the worthy cause.
Mr Langley said the turnout of people willing to support the fund-raising effort was astounding. Not only from those that attended, but also from the variety of businesses, both local and Australia wide, who went above and beyond any expectations. We have been amazed by the support received in such a small amount of time, and are truly taken aback by the figure raised over the 3 day event.
Mr Forrest said it was great to see the Aussie Spirit to support those in need alive and well in Gippsland, saying it is one of the fundamental ideals of what Apex is about. At anytime, any of us could find ourselves or someone we know in a similar situation where we need assistance because of a natural disaster. It's a great thing to know there are people out there willing to band together in support during trying times.
The next step in the process involves working closely with the Mount Warning AM Rotary Club in Northern NSW to purchase goods needed in the flood effected regions. Once established, a truck donated by Latrobe Concrete Pumping, loaded with goods will be driven by Mr Langley and local Ray Chapman to the effected region where the Mt Warning AM Rotary Club will distribute items to those most in need. Mr Langley said by doing this we are cutting out red tape and middlemen, ensuring that 100% of what was raised will go to the people that the appeal was intended to help. This will be expected to take place over the next few weeks, with the truck leaving for NSW shortly after the Easter break.
Yarragon Ale House along with Drouin Warragul And District's Apex Club would like to thank everyone involved including, volunteers, musicians, artists, businesses and associations who all come together in support of this great cause. We are now looking for Local suppliers of new whitegoods, furnishings and homewares who would be interested in supporting the appeal by working with us to enable the $15,000 raised goes back into the local Gippsland community as well as best serving our efforts in helping the flood effected regions of Northern NSW. Any local businesses interested, please contact Damian Langley on 0405 557 652.
