Spring looks good on Queanbeyan. 🌸☀️

Longer days, warmer weather and plenty of reasons to get out and explore — make a day of it in Queanbeyan this spring.

Step into the city’s past at the Queanbeyan Museum, or dig a little deeper into local stories and history at the Queanbeyan-Palerang Heritage Library.

When the sun is shining, pick up something delicious from one of Queanbeyan’s many cafés, bakeries and eateries and find a spot by the river for a picnic. Or venture a little further to Googong Foreshores, where walking trails, lookouts and wide-open landscapes make the most of a beautiful spring day. 🌿

And if you’re visiting in October, add a little creativity to the itinerary with the Arts Trail - a chance to meet local artists, step inside studios and discover the creative side of the region. 🎨

History, food, art and plenty of fresh air - there’s more than one way to spend a spring day in Queanbeyan.

What if your next ride came with a little more breathing room? 🚴🌱

The canola has emerged in the Hilltops Region, and the quiet country roads are calling your name. Roll past rolling farmland and settle into the rhythm of the ride, with bright yellow views appearing across the countryside. These seasonal scenes are only here for a short time, so it's a beautiful moment to explore them on two wheels.

Two cycling events are also coming up, including one this Saturday and another riding alongside a country show in October. For more information, contact the Hilltops Region Visitor Information Centre on 📞 1800 628 233 or visit our website 👉 www.visithilltopsregion.com.au/whats-on/

Take the road less travelled and discover Araluen. 🌿

Tucked into a beautiful valley beyond Braidwood, Araluen is one of those Southern Tablelands destinations that rewards the journey.

Once a bustling gold rush settlement, traces of the valley’s past can still be found throughout the landscape. Follow the Araluen History Trail to uncover stories of former villages, gold mining, agriculture and generations of local life, with stops taking you from historic cemeteries to the Federal Hall, Recreation Ground and War Memorial.

Between the history, take in sweeping valley views, enjoy the peaceful surrounds and get a sense of just how much has unfolded in this quiet pocket of the region.

Pack a picnic, plan a country drive and spend a day discovering Araluen. 🚗🌿

In the Southern Tablelands, fresh local produce is never far away. From bustling farmers' markets in our country towns and villages to roadside farm gates stocked with seasonal goodness, there’s plenty of reason to bring an empty basket and take a drive.

🍎 Spend a Saturday morning browsing the Bungendore Farmers Market, where local growers and producers bring their best to the Village Square.

🥬 Head a little further down the road to the Braidwood Farmers Market at the National Theatre, packed with fresh produce, local flavours and plenty of country charm.

🧺 Or make a Sunday morning of it at The Queanbeyan Market, discovering fresh produce, handmade goods and local makers at the Queanbeyan Showground.

And at this time of year, you might even stumble across one of the region’s most prized winter treats – fresh black truffles. 🖤

All on Canberra’s doorstep, or an easy country road trip from Sydney. Get out, breathe in some fresh country air, meet the people behind the produce and make a few memories along the way.

There's more than meets the eye in Captains Flat. 👀

Once a booming mine town, Captains Flat is packed with stories from its colourful past and at the heart of town you'll find the Historic Captains Flat Hotel.

The late-19th-century hotel, once home to the longest bar in the Southern Hemisphere, is a destination in its own right. And now, there's another reason to pull up a chair - the recently opened 1938 Wh***ey Bar. 🥃

Pair it with a wander around town and discover the fascinating mining history, heritage and country charm that make Captains Flat well worth the trip.
