Winter is Coming 🧣

Frosts, fogs and farms; fires, food and friends. The stillness of winter offers a chance to appreciate the little things here in the Southern Tablelands. For the Hilltops Region, almost every pub glows with crackling fireplaces, cafés brewing up fresh hot coffee and the countryside is always wonderfully peaceful without the constant rush of traffic and city noise. There's simply so much to indulge in this winter.

That cosy country atmosphere carries into the region’s events too, starting this weekend! An international band is coming to .koorawatha, rock'n'rolling into the night with good company and drinks by the log fire. Over at , the local amateur theatre group returns with encore performances of their sold-out Outback Debutante’s Ball. Be sure to book ahead and have good laugh over craft beers.

Before winter arrives in the Southern Tablelands, the autumn countryside settles into clearer skies and cooler evenings made for unwinding outdoors. It is the perfect time to hit the road, head to the Hilltops Region and settle into a quiet kind of getaway.

Camping under the stars or rolling in with a caravan, the region offers wide open spaces and easy welcoming stays. Mornings arrive softly here with mist lifting from valleys, sunlight touching the hilltops and the comforting smell of coffee in the cool air.

As night falls, campfires become the heart of the experience. Toast marshmallows over glowing embers, share meals beneath a sky full of stars and enjoy the simple joy of conversation that carries into the evening.

Pack the van, gather your people and make the most of autumn’s final golden stretch in the Hilltops.

🍁 Nestled in the heart of the Great Dividing Range, in our beautiful region of New South Wales, lies the beautiful valley of Araluen.

Also known as the Valley of Peace or Happy Valley, the village is now noted for its picturesque scenery and calm, country atmosphere. In its heyday, the valley used to be one of the most famous gold mining towns in New South Wales.

On the drive down the tumbling road towards Araluen, you’ll be struck by the stunning scenery of green pastures, framed by the surrounding Great Dividing Range. The sheer beauty of the valley alone is reason enough to add this hidden gem onto any explorer’s to-do list while exploring the nearby Deua National Park or visiting Braidwood.

Buy some tasty produce for a picnic in the valley, have fun with the kids at the recreational grounds, indulge in some fresh peaches and explore the town’s history trail to discover the area’s former villages. Treat yourself this weekend with a trip to the beautiful valley of Araluen ✨
