Home to the Yea Visitor Information Centre and a gift shop supporting local artists and producers. Opened in August 2014 the Yea Wetlands Discovery Centre features a fully accredited Visitor Information Centre with interactive environmental interpretive displays to inform visitors about the importance of water and local wetland ecology. Located adjacent to the beautiful Yea Wetlands the Centre is

a striking, architecturally designed building incorporating sustainable design elements and native landscaping. A range of local produce, gifts and artworks is available for sale and the Centre can also be hired for meetings and functions. Guided tours of the Wetlands are also available โ€“ bookings essential. The Centre is fully accessible and offers ample parking, BBQ and picnic areas as well as a dump point for recreational vehicles and caravans.

๐Ÿ™Œ Works on the John Cotton Bridge at the Yea Wetlands have been completed and it has come up a treat! Check it out over the long weekend. With all the recent rain the wetlands are definitely worth a visit. ๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿธ

Our visitor services team will be on deck to help with great ideas for other things to see and do in Murrindindi Shire, and the gift shop is stocked with a range of delcious local produce for those looking to stock up for a road trip! ๐Ÿงบ๐Ÿš™

โœ… John Cotton Bridge at Yea Wetlands is now open!

๐Ÿ› ๏ธ The John Cotton Bridge at Yea Wetlands has reopened today, just in time for the Kings Birthday long weekend.

Council's contractors have finished the works ahead of the estimated completion date next week.

Remediation of the John Cotton Bridge is part of the Wetlands Restoration Wetlands, jointly funded by the Victorian Government and Commonwealth Government under the Commonwealth-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA) in response to the 2022, 2023 and 2024 floods.

Capture the beauty of the birds at Yea Wetlands and share your best shots with the 2026 BirdLife Australia Photography Awards.

Entries close at 8:00am AEST on 13 July 2026.

Exciting news! The BirdLife Australia Photography Awards are back for 2026, opening earlier this year on Tuesday 7 April.

Weโ€™re calling photographers of all skill levels to get snapping during the last of the warm weather. Itโ€™s all about sharing your passion for birds and telling their stories through your lens, no matter your experience.

So save the date and keep an eye out. More details coming soon.

The 2026 BirdLife Australia Photography Awards are proudly sponsored by and the Lake Cowal Foundation. Thanks to their generosity, category winners will receive $1,000.

The YWDC is open 10-4pm daily. Stop by for all your visitor information or to take a walk on one of the many trails covering 34 hectares of natural reserve in the Yea Wetlands. Loose yourself in nature along our immersive walk or take a peek of our audio-visual displays in our Discovery Centre. The YWDC also offers our sculpture trail, water station, bike rack, public toilets, picnic tables. Dogs are welcome on a lead with nearby parking and dump point available. The cooler weather is the perfect time to take a break and Discover Dindi.
