This is a bit of a double edged sword. Potentially increasing costs to growers, but getting employees paid a minimum wage. Might mean there is a skills test for competency for Cherry pickers to get hired next season, when it was already difficult to get enough staff.

The Fair Work Ombudsman is reminding horticulture employers that changes to the Horticulture Award commence today, including the new minimum wage guarantee for pieceworkers.
