Yowah is ‘The Friendly Opal Field’ 165 kilometres west of Cunnamulla.

It is the home of the Yowah Opal Nut and the Ironstone Matrix Opal, an opal type to be found only in this part of Queensland.

Opal was first discovered here towards the end of the 19th century and production still continues. It could be your lucky day just like so stay a while and find your own colour.

This country produces some of the world’s most spectacular opal also produces a stunning display of wildflowers.

Stay at the Artesian Waters Caravan Park. Yowah. and then set about enjoying your time in this small community.

Visit the Bluff and marvel at the views of the surrounding country and the magnificent rock formations for great photo opportunities and spectacular sunsets.

Thanks to funding from Rural Solutions Queensland and the Queensland Government, we are able to offer Paroo Shire locals half price tickets to the 2022 Cunnamulla Fella Roundup events.

Discounted locals' tickets must be booked through the Cunnamulla Fella Visitor Information Centre, and aren't available via the website.

Our free events, the Junior Rodeo School and Stan & Slim remain free for all!
