Is it winter? Yes.
Can I still squeeze in a swim? Absolutely.

Sydney’s rock pools, whether ocean-carved or freshwater-fed are open year-round, and in winter, they’re often warmer than the air. It’s the perfect excuse for a cold water plunge with a view.

Along the coastline, you’ll find more than 35 ocean rock pools, with over 20 located just in the Northern Beaches region, from Palm Beach down to Manly. Each one offers a unique slice of nature: tidal rhythms, sandstone edges, and sea spray that wakes you right up.

Some hidden freshwater pools still exist in bushland pockets around the city, though they’re fewer and more seasonal. These offer peaceful, sheltered swims when the creeks are flowing.

Nature doesn’t hibernate and neither should we.
