August on Sydney’s Northern Beaches is pure magic. 💛

The golden wattles are bursting into bloom across our national parks, painting the bush in vibrant shades of gold. As Australia’s national floral emblem, their arrival is a beautiful sign that winter is beginning to give way to spring.

For the Garigal people, the Traditional Custodians of much of Sydney’s Northern Beaches, the changing seasons have always been read through the rhythms of Country. At this time of year, the annual humpback whale migration is another spectacular reminder of those seasonal cycles.

Whether you’re wandering through the bush surrounded by golden blooms or standing on a headland watching humpbacks pass by, this is one of the most spectacular times of year to experience the Northern Beaches.

This NAIDOC Week, we celebrate and recognise the history, cultures and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, whose connection to Country is for over 65,000 years.

Spending time in nature is about more than enjoying beautiful landscapes. It is about understanding the stories, knowledge and cultural significance that have shaped these places for generations.

We are delighted to engage First Nations partners, including the wonderful team at Bush to Bowl, who generously share their knowledge of native bush foods, traditional plant uses and the deep connection between people and Country. Their experiences enrich our tours and provide our guests with a greater appreciation of Australia’s oldest living culture.

NAIDOC Week is an opportunity to listen, learn and reflect. We are grateful to continue learning from Traditional Custodians and to share that learning respectfully with visitors from around Australia and the world.

Thank you to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples for your ongoing stewardship of this remarkable land and for sharing your knowledge and culture so generously.
