🌿 Qarabulaq – A Village of History, Nature, and Heritage
Since the Middle Ages, the area of Qarabulaq has been home to the Budugh people. On maps published in Tiflis by the Russian Viceroyalty of the Caucasus (1918–1920 editions), the village is recorded under the name Qarabulaq.
Located in the foothills of the Greater Caucasus, the village is crossed by a spring bearing the same name. The toponym "Qarabulaq" means "a perennial, powerful, and abundant spring with constantly flowing water." The village itself derives its name from this remarkable natural spring.
Today, Qarabulaq is part of the Aydınkənd rural administrative district. For generations, the local population relied on agriculture, livestock breeding, and animal husbandry as their primary livelihoods.
The village stands on an ancient settlement site. Within its territory are the remains of an old cemetery and a place of worship whose exact age has not yet been determined, reflecting the area's rich historical and cultural heritage.
Sadly, following a devastating flood, the residents of Qarabulaq were evacuated and relocated to the city of Quba and other nearby settlements. Despite this, the village continues to live on through its history, traditions, and the memories of its people.
