Azerbaijan now welcomes you by rail, with Azerbaijan Railways offering a comfortable and scenic way to explore a land of striking contrasts and living culture.

In Baku, history and modern design exist in a constant dialogue. The flowing architecture of the Heydar Aliyev Centre stands in contrast to the timeless streets of Icherisheher, creating a city where past and present shape one another. As evening arrives, Baku shifts into a vibrant nightlife scene, filled with concerts, festivals, rooftop spaces, and music that carries through the night.

Further along the route, G***a reveals a more historic and soulful character. Known for its architectural heritage, spiritual landmarks like the Imamzadeh Mausoleum, and the legacy of poet Nizami G***avi, the city reflects centuries of cultural depth. Its cuisine adds another layer, with traditional flavours such as G***a dovga, vegetarian grape leaf dolma with rice, and pakhlava offering a true taste of local heritage.

From modern skylines to ancient streets, from night energy to culinary traditions, Azerbaijan unfolds as a journey of contrasts waiting to be experienced with

Among the lush green mountains of Basgal lies a village where every stone street, handcrafted detail, and mountain view carries centuries of history.

Known for its ancient silk-making traditions and the art of kelaghayi recognized by UNESCO, Basgal is more than a destination, it is a living community shaped by craftsmanship, resilience, and connection to nature.

Here, traditions are not preserved behind museum walls. They live in the daily lives of local artisans, families, and generations who continue to protect the spirit of the village while welcoming the future with pride.

Basgal reminds us that heritage is not only about the past, it is about people, identity, and the communities that keep culture alive through time.

Visiting Azerbaijan in summer? Then there’s one local taste you absolutely shouldn’t miss: alcha 🍃

This small sour plum is one of the country’s favorite seasonal snacks. Crunchy, juicy, and intensely refreshing, it’s usually eaten with a pinch of salt for the perfect balance of sour and savoury.

You’ll spot alcha everywhere during the warmer months, from local markets to family tables, and trying it is part of experiencing everyday.

During alcha season, many families also prepare doymaj, a fresh, tangy mix of chopped fruits and herbs that perfectly captures the taste of an Azerbaijani summer.

Simple, authentic, and unforgettable! One bite and you’ll understand why everyone waits for alcha season 😉

Azerbaijan holds deep traces of Zoroastrian heritage, where fire was once seen as a sacred symbol of purity, life, and divine power.

The Maiden Tower in Baku, part of the UNESCO-listed Walled City, is often linked to early fire worship and ancient ritual use.

On the Absheron Peninsula, the Ateshgah Fire Temple once attracted pilgrims to its natural gas-fed eternal flames, becoming a shared place of devotion along historic trade routes.

Near Khinalig village, the Khinalig Ateshgah preserves the spirit of an ancient sacred site tied to early Zoroastrian traditions.

At Yanar Dag, flames still burn naturally from the earth, echoing ancient beliefs.

Together, these places reflect a lasting connection between fire, nature, and belief.
