কিশ আলবেনীয় গির্জা, শেকি, আজারবাইজান।

এটি প্রায় দ্বাদশ শতাব্দীতে নির্মিত এবং আলবেনীয় ও আর্মেনীয় উপজাতিদের মধ্যে ক্রমাগত সংঘাতের সময় বেশ কয়েকবার আংশিকভাবে ধ্বংস ও পুনর্নির্মিত হয়। গির্জাটি একটি প্রাচীন কবরস্থানের উপর নির্মিত, আর কাঁচে ঢাকা দেখার ছিদ্রের মাধ্যমে কিছু প্রাচীন কঙ্কাল দেখা যায়।
এটি একটি পাহাড়ের চূড়ায় অবস্থিত, যার চারদিকে মনোরম দৃশ্য এবং ফোর-হুইল ড্রাইভ (4X4) গাড়ি নিয়ে পাথরে বাঁধানো রাস্তা বেয়ে উপরে উঠতে হয়।

Kish Albanian Church in Sheki, Azerbaijan.

Built around 12h century and partially destroyed & rebuilt several times during continuous conflict between Albanian & Armenian tribes. Church is built over an ancient graveyard, with some ancient skeletons are kept visible through glassed viewing holes.
Located on a hilltop with scenic views and have to climb stone-paved road by 4X4 car.

শেকি খান মসজিদ। খান পরিবারের একটি ছোট্ট পারিবারিক মসজিদ। নকশাটি খুবই সুন্দর, কিন্তু দুর্ভাগ্য, আমরা যখন পৌঁছালাম, তখন এটি বন্ধ ছিল। তবে আমরা এর শান্ত, স্নিগ্ধ প্রাঙ্গণটি উপভোগ করেছি, যা সুন্দর, শান্ত ও নিরিবিলি। আমরা সবাই প্রায় এক ঘণ্টা ধরে শীতল রোদ, মৃদু বাতাস আর পাখির কলতানের মাঝে বসে ছিলাম!

Sheki Khan mosque. Cozy little family mosque of Khan family. Very nice design but, unfortunately it was closed by the time we reached. But we enjoyed the Seren courtyard, nice, calm & quiet. We all spent about an hour just sitting under the cool sunlight, gentle breeze and bird song !

The Palace of Sheki Khan.
The Sheki town of Azerbaijan is named after this Landlord. This is his palace complex with garden, house of wives, ministers, stable and mosque. Inside of the palace are full of symbolic painting - depicting dynasty, rule, hunting, cycle of life and the most amazing is the patterned design of glass window; this inlayed glass in wood is unique. Unfortunately, filming inside the palace is restricted. Not a big palace or compound but nice and Serene.

শেকি খানের প্রাসাদ।
আজারবাইজানের শেকি শহরটির নামকরণ করা হয়েছে এই জমিদারের নামানুসারে। এটি তাঁর প্রাসাদ চত্বর, যেখানে রয়েছে বাগান, স্ত্রীদের বাসস্থান, মন্ত্রীদের বাসস্থান, আস্তাবল এবং মসজিদ। প্রাসাদের অভ্যন্তরভাগ প্রতীকী ছবিতে পরিপূর্ণ—যেখানে রাজবংশ, শাসন, শিকার, জীবনচক্র আঁকা হয়েছে এবং সবচেয়ে আশ্চর্যজনক হলো কাঁচের জানালার নকশা; কাঠের ভেতরে খচিত কাঁচ বসানোর কাজ গুলো অসাধারন। কিন্তু, প্রাসাদের ভেতরে ছবি তোলা নিষিদ্ধ। এটি খুব বড় প্রাসাদ বা চত্বর না হলেও সুন্দর এবং শান্ত।

Karvansaray in Sheki. Azerbaijan.

Karvansaray literally means 'Traveller's Inn'. Basically it is a motel of ancient times for the travelers of Silk road. This one is a bit well known. Has hotel-style rows of rooms around a central courtyard garden. Also has stable for horses-donkeys etc. granary, central kitchen, dining and most important- bathing area (no toilets, poo & p*e were done in the jungle). One can still feel the vibe and atmosphere of the old times while sitting in the garden benches!

শেকি, আজারবাইজানের কারভানসরাই।

কারভানসরাই শব্দের আক্ষরিক অর্থ হলো 'পথিকের সরাইখানা'। মূলত এটি ছিল প্রাচীনকালের সিল্ক রোডের চলাচলকারীদের জন্য একটি মোটেল। এইটি বেশ সুপরিচিত। এর কেন্দ্রে একটি বাগানসহ উঠান রয়েছে এবং চারপাশে হোটেলের মতো সারিবদ্ধ ঘর আছে। এছাড়াও এখানে ঘোড়া-গাধার জন্য আস্তাবল, শস্যভাণ্ডার, কেন্দ্রীয় রান্নাঘর, খাবার ঘর এবং সবচেয়ে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ—স্নানের জায়গা রয়েছে (কোনো শৌচাগার ছিল না, মলমূত্র ত্যাগ করতে হতো জঙ্গলে)। বাগানের বেঞ্চে বসলে যে কেউ এখনও পুরোনো দিনের আমেজ ও পরিবেশ অনুভব করতে পারবে!

Usmali Shamakhi, a nice restaurant in Shamakhi, just on the opposite side of Juma Mosque in Shamakhi.
It has 100s of items all priced as a portion. Price was reasonable. We tried all Azerbaijani food items, each one of us took 4 to 5 different items and tasted all. I liked Lamb Dolma, cheese salad, Ayran and buckwheat. Our lunch was worth the experience.

শামখির জুমা মসজিদের ঠিক উল্টো দিকে উসমালি শামখি নামে একটি চমৎকার রেস্তোরাঁ আছে।
এখানে শত শত পদ রয়েছে এবং প্রতিটির দাম পরিমাণ অনুযায়ী নির্ধারণ করা হয়েছে। দাম মানানসই। আমরা আজারবাইজানের সব খাবার চেখে দেখেছি; আমাদের প্রত্যেকে ৪ থেকে ৫টি ভিন্ন পদ নিয়ে সবগুলোর স্বাদ গ্রহণ করেছি। আমার ল্যাম্ব ডোলমা, চিজ সালাদ, আইরান এবং বাকহুইট ভালো লেগেছে। আমাদের দুপুরের খাবারের এই অভিজ্ঞতাটা বেশ ভালো ছিল।

Juma Mosque at Shamakhi, Azerbaijan.
Constructed in 743 AD ! Almost 1300 years old! Destroyed several times in earthquake but finally renovated in 2013.
Wonderful design, courtyard & gardens, underground chambers, amazing to think it's that old.

City Tufandag Hotel, Gabala, Azerbaijan.
This hotel was built in 60's bduringy Soviet union rule. Then converted to Service apartment and then to 4 star hotel in 2012. Quite famous and about 250m from center of town. Friendly staffs & they even upgraded me to a Junior Suit! Warmed up my food brought from outside, accompanied me to shop! All services, room & breakfast were very good.
