AIRPORT FACILITIES AT HAZRAT SHAHJALAL INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport is the largest international airport in Bangladesh. Like other airports around the world, there are all necessary airport facilities which a passenger can avail without any fee or with very negligible fee.
Currency exchange
As you put your first step into Bangladesh, one thing can come into your mind so as to where can you exchange your foreign currency, even not all, but for some necessary local currency so that you can meet your needs in Dhaka. The arrival terminal have a good number of currency exchange booths both in the forms of currency exchange private agencies and local banks in Bangladesh. You can also exchange your local currency into your desired foreign currency (limited to some extent) at the time you depart from Bangladesh also. DINING FACILITY
For departure passengers, there is a very good restaurant at the 1st floor of the airport, just after the Immigration zone. Only passengers who have completed their immigration procedure are eligible for entrance to this restaurant. Before entering into this restaurant, please keep in mind that this restaurant is not for poor people and will need considerable amount to have dining there. Nevertheless, the quality of food served there is very good and foods are delicious too. You can have traditional Bangladeshi food there as well as exquisite cuisine for the foreigners. Beside Spice Restaurant, departure passengers can also have light refreshments from a couple of cafe\’s located around the departure enclosure area. These cafe\’s are also available for visitors coming for bidding farewell to their near ones.
WRAPPING SERVICE
Passengers who want their baggage to be protected from pilferage, scratches, or any other mishandling by wrapping them for a nominal cost. The baggage wrapping service is provided by a private organization which will wrap your baggage very nicely with polythene film and they will cost only Bangladeshi Taka 300 per baggage. If you need special support like in carrying your baggage, you can take help from the 3 Helpline services. These services have their offices at the northern corner of the airport at 1st floor. They can also help you in case you need any wheelchair for elderly people. For their service, you will have to spend a little for that though.
BAGGAGE TROLLEY
Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport authority provides free baggage trolley for the passengers. You will find the trolleys aligned outside the departure terminal along the wall. You can use them just after getting down from your car.
TrolleyFor arrival passengers, trolleys are generally kept in line near the baggage belt area. Since the international terminal is divided in two parts, these trolleys are generally stacked near Terminal 2, i. e., at the left of you when you clear your immigration process. Sometimes, if you are lucky enough, you will find them in front of you just after finishing immigration procedures!! DO NOT forget to leave your used trolley within the area assigned and marked outside the terminal building.
