US cavalrymen pose in front of a tree known as the "Giant Grizzly" in the early 1900’s. The Grizzly Giant is a giant sequoia, the largest in the Mariposa Grove, located in Yosemite National Park. The tree still stands and looks almost the same today. Instagram.com/bigtreehunters

This is how Lukla Airport was built.

Sherpas spent several days walking, running, dancing, and singing their way back and forth across the plowed ground of what was planned to be the Lukla airfield to make it firm enough for a plane to land on.

This poignant monument reminds us of the sacrifice these soldiers made and that their presence is never forgotten by their loved ones.
*Below the sculpture is a large stone plaque with the names of Hungarian soldiers from the village who served and died in WWI and WWII.
