A team from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), named NeoScreenix, has won first place in the "Digital Health Track" at the prestigious Johns Hopkins Health Innovation Competition, beating teams from Harvard, MIT, Stanford, and Caltech. Over 440 teams from 200+ universities participated this year.

NeoScreenix, made up of BUET CSE students Fahmida Sultana, H M Shadman, Sadatul Islam, Md. Hasnain Adil, and Prithu Anan, developed a self-screening technology for early detection of breast cancer. Inspired by personal experiences, they combined AI and a user-friendly device to empower women to check symptoms at home.

The team had previously refined their idea through local competitions. After being selected as finalists in March, they won the final round held online on April 12.

They received $5,000 in prize money and aim to use it for further research and to raise breast cancer awareness in rural Bangladesh. The team credited their success to BUET professor Md. Sohel Rahman and two medical students for their guidance and support.
