The behara set off toward the bride’s house, carrying the groom in a palki while singing traditional wedding songs. This small carriage is called a Palki, and the men who carry it on their shoulders are known as behara. After the wedding ceremony, the groom will bring his bride home seated inside this same palki. At that time, the groom will walk alongside it as it is carried. In village weddings, this is how the groom traditionally brings his bride home after the marriage. This custom is almost extinct today, but it is still seen in some villages of the country.
