Passengers who are planning to travel on international or domestic flights in the future are advised to refrain from using, carrying, or charging power banks while on board. Failure to comply may result in the airline canceling your journey.
In January 2025, a fire broke out on a South Korean airline named "Air Busan," injuring three passengers. Preliminary investigations revealed that the fire likely started due to a damaged battery insulation in a power bank stored in the luggage compartment under the airplane seat.
For the safety of passengers and the aircraft, many airlines are imposing strict restrictions on the use of power banks. Recently, several airlines, including US-Bangla Airlines, Thai Airways, and Fly AirAsia, have implemented a ban on carrying power banks on their flights. This measure has been taken primarily with passenger safety in mind.
