Getting treatment at CMC Hospital, Vellore, Tamilnadu
What you should know

CMC Hospital is one of the famous hospital for many foreign patients. If you want to visit here for Medical purpose, you should know it first-
1. Fix Appointment: This is the first and most important step. Before you come, you should know your Health Issue Category. Please note that, in CMC, it has many Category and Sub Category. You should research the right Clinic and right Doctor before you fix appointment. There are 2 types of Appointment- General and Private. Try Private as that's the best. Generally, you need to fix appointment 3 months earlier as they are too crowded.
2. Visa: CMC only allows Medical Visa. A Female attendant is mandatory for patent who has surgery or similar.
3. If you want to come by train. Please contact with Agent for Tatkal Premium Ticket which can be done 2 days earlier. Generally, you can buy train Ticket by yourself if you have much time. Note that, you need to depart at Katpati Station. Auto 3 Wheeler will charge 50-70 rupees to come from Katpati Station to CMC.
4. Hotel Booking & C Form: After reaching Hotel, take help from the Hotel Manager to get fill up the C Form. 100 rupees will be charged. Hotel can be found from 300-400 rupees per day.
5. IRO Registration: At 900 B Gate, you need to get yourself registered from IRO and they will provide you the CHRIS card. Keep CHRIS card with you always.
6. Police Verification: Fill up the IRO form, take the C Form (2 Copy), 1 Passport size Photo, Passport, Hotel Visiting Card with you and go to nearest Police Station. It's beside old Bus Station and takes 2-4 minutes from IRO Building. Police Verification may require 25 rupees per person.
7. Date Change (if Required): If you need to change the appointment Date, go to Silver Gate after 145:00. They can change the Date.
8. Visiting Doctor: check the date, time, building and counter number and reach there before 30 minutes. Report at counter and they will give you a Room Number and Token Number. Wait for your serial and then visit the Doctor. Prepare your problems in written which is easier for communication (English is best).
9. TEST Payment: If required, doctor will prescribe some test which can be paid through Debit/ Credit Card from CMC website. It's easier and less troublesome. If you don't have the Card, you need to pay at Cash counter.
10. TEST: You can see that when and where those tests will be taken and what you need to to before each test. Check instructions first then follow those.
