What type of tourism should be allowed in the Sundarbans Reserved Forest?
Do we really know the answer? I believe we do. Yet somehow, we often fail to put it into practice. We all know the reasons.
In my view, the answer is simple: Responsible and Sustainable Ecotourism.
The Sundarbans is not just a tourist destination; it is a globally important ecosystem, a wildlife sanctuary, and a natural heritage that must be protected for future generations. Tourism should be designed to support conservation, minimize environmental impact, respect wildlife, and benefit local communities.
For this to happen, all stakeholders—including tour operators, the Bangladesh Forest Department, policymakers, and visitors—must have a clear and shared understanding of what responsible ecotourism truly means.
Let us work together to protect the Sundarbans while allowing people to experience its beauty in a way that is sustainable, respectful, and beneficial for both nature and future development.
Save the forest today, so future generations can experience it tomorrow.
