সাউদার্ন স্টারে থাকা সাড়ে তিন লাখ লিটার ফার্নেস অয়েলের প্রায় পুরোটাই সুন্দরবনের শেলা নদীর জয়মনি থেকে আন্ধারমানিক পর্যন্ত প্রায় ১৫ কিলোমিটার এলাকায় বিভিন্ন খালে ছড়িয়ে পড়েছে ।

Oil spill in Bangladesh Sundarbans: The spill from the oil tanker named OT Southern Star 7 was spread an over an estimated 40 square Kilometer area. An oil tanker has collided with an empty cargo vessel in the Bangladesh side of Sundarbans, spilling nearly 350 tonne of oil into the Sela river that runs through the world’s largest Mangrove forest. This huge amount of oil on the water would heavily affect the coastal biodiversity for a long time.
