After living and working in Paris for much of my career, I can tell you the most vibrant part of the city isn't on any tourist map. It's Paris' multicultural soul: the global flavors of the 11th, the rhythm of a neighborhood boulangerie at 8AM, the daily life unfolding between the landmarks. Paris is only half the story if you stick to the highlights. Here are 5 ways to experience the full picture. For the full article, find me on LinkedIn → linkedin.com/in/whitney3

Do you consider yourself a "non-cruise" person? Imagine a week onboard an upscale, intimate ship where the chair-hungry crowds of mega-liners are replaced by the effortless, steady sailing of the river. With a maximum of only 156 guests, the experience feels like a boutique hotel. The food is a standout—high-quality, authentic, and local, often featuring ingredients sourced directly from the markets in each port.

I just confirmed this incredible 'Melodies of the Danube' journey for a client, and it is the perfect example of why river cruising is in a category of its own. This itinerary is specifically designed to highlight the "Big Three" capitals—Budapest, Bratislava, and Vienna—alongside the scenic beauty of the Wachau Valley, a protected UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Another huge advantage: if you typically get seasick, this is your solution. The river remains calm and the ship stays incredibly stable—no waves, no rocking, just a smooth journey from one grand capital to the next, while passing stone fortresses, medieval castles, and charming vineyards along the way.

As a member of Virtuoso, I provide exclusive amenities and perks that elevate these journeys even further. Let’s chat about your options for river cruising—from the heart of Europe to the Nile in Egypt, the Mekong in Vietnam, or the Magdalena in Colombia, the possibilities are endless.

I loved designing this spring getaway for repeat clients who wanted the right balance of independent exploration and privately guided experiences that optimize their time and energy. Each property was selected for its character and level of service. From Lisbon to Porto to Madrid, the experience unfolds through hyperlocal restaurants (including the fabulous Michelin starred 2Monkeys), a wine tasting excursion, private tours of the “Versailles” of Portugal (National Palace of Queluz), and of course, late evenings filled with delicious tapas and gorgeous cocktails. ✨

As a mom of two young world travelers, I’ve learned how to make travel smoother for everyone over the years. Spring break is around the corner so I'm sharing 5 travel tips that have made a huge difference when traveling with my own kids.

1. Stash a few surprises. When boredom or travel fatigue hits, having a small “surprise stash” can save the day. Pack things like activity books, new markers, dollar-store stickers, fidgets, or a brand-new book. Pulling out something unexpected can instantly reset the mood.

2. Bring kid-size travel gear. Eye masks and neck pillows designed for kids make a big difference on flights, trains, or long car rides. Not only do they help encourage rest, but they also make kids feel like real travelers with their own gear.

3. Plan for playground time. Kids need to move. Before your trip, research playgrounds near your hotel or along your sightseeing route and build in time for them. Allow for more time than you think you need. Parents, grab a coffee or pastry and enjoy slowing down for a bit!

4. Build in buffer time. Leave space in your itinerary for slower mornings, longer meals, or an unplanned stop that turns into the best part of the day.

5. Stay informed with what's going on at your destination. Register with the U.S. State Department’s Smart Traveler Enrollment Program. You’ll receive safety updates and alerts from the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate, and it helps the government contact you in an emergency.

What are your tips for traveling with kids? Where are you headed for spring break?

I’ve been noticing a shift in travel lately—both with my clients and across the industry. I put together a few thoughts on what’s changing this spring and what it actually means for how we’re traveling right now.

My personal favorite trend? “Set-jetting” and literary travel! 📚 Link to my article in the comments!

Ireland stays with you long after you leave. Maybe it’s the way a place like Cork feels both vibrant and deeply rooted in tradition. Or how, just a few hours north in Belfast, history isn’t something you read about; you feel it as tou walk through the city. The music, the conversation, the incredible landscape, and yes, the Guinness! Happy St Patrick’s Day! ☘️☘️☘️

For most of my career, I trained diplomats, business executives, non-profit leaders, faculty members, and students to navigate cultural differences and connect across cultures.

That experience shaped the way I think about travel.

Travel has the ability to expand how we see the world and the people in it. When approached with curiosity, it becomes more than a vacation.

This is the kind of travel I care deeply about helping others experience. I shared more about this idea in a recent article linked in my bio.

Just booked: the perfect spring break trip to Amsterdam, London, and Paris. My clients wanted an solid combo of easily accessible European capitals mixed with guided experiences, a day trip to a hidden gem (Rotterdam), and plenty of time to enjoy being with the family while experiencing incredible history and culture. I think they’ll love the sunset river cruise on the Seine and Westminster Abbey’s Changing of the Guard ceremony! 🇳🇱🇬🇧🇫🇷

Antwerp, Belgium has been on my bucket list ever since I did a deep dive into its incredible fashion scene via a random Vogue article I read. Unlike Paris, Antwerp is known for intellectual, conceptual fashion. Think artistic, deconstructed, asymmetrical, and just plain out there! It’s just a quick 2-hour high speed train ride from Paris and offers a totally different European vibe. Its official language is Dutch but English proficiency is high - you’ll have no trouble exploring the gorgeous art history scene (hello, ) and amazing shopping! .yee
