Today we celebrate World Cycling Day: “Cycling for a greener Future”. This theme focuses on how cycling can help reduce pollution, promote healthier lifestyles, support sustainable cities, and create a cleaner environment for future generations.

This week, AIJA, the International Association of Young Lawyers is organising their Half Year Conference ‘Old Stones, new Orders’ in the Bruges Meeting & Convention Centre. This conference offers a timely forum to examine the legal complexities emerging from today’s rapidly changing world. Together with Howest, renowned in Belgium and internationally for its expertise in cybersecurity, IT innovation, and digital technology, a special panel session for the local students ‘Pay, Fight, or Freeze? The Legal Fallout of Ransomware Attacks’ was organised in order to create local impact.

Attendees enjoy a carefully curated social programme that blends cultural experiences with networking opportunities, allowing participants to explore our UNESCO World Heritage city while forging meaningful professional connections. From an official reception at the City Hall and a welcome reception in the Provinciaal Hof to local tastings, a conference dinner in Port Bleu, a hospitality afterparty in Bruges Beer Experience and a spectacular gala evening in La Brugeoise, the Bruges experience promises to be as enriching socially as it is intellectually.

The DIAH Conference “Discovery to Innovation in Animal Health” takes place in the Bruges Meeting & Convention Centre. There is a clear need in the animal health sector in Europe to bring early developers (academia, research organisations, spin-offs/start-ups) and companies together to facilitate interaction and collaboration between them and thus stimulate innovation.
The welcome reception took place in the neogothic Provincie West-Vlaanderen and the conference dinner in brewery Brouwerij De Halve Maan.

Elsevier is organising the “Cell Symposia: Host-microbiome dynamics” conference in the Bruges Meeting & Convention Centre. A resilient microbiome is essential for human health. This symposium puts the spotlight on the ecology of the human microbiome, its role in shaping host physiology, interplay with the immune system, and how we can use our understanding of these influences for therapeutic applications. The conference brings together about 300 experts from various fields, including microbiology, immunology, metabolism, ecology, and precision medicine.

The Meet the Speaker dinner takes place in brewery Brouwerij De Halve Maan preceded by a guided tour of the brewery. This formula offers the opportunity for one-to-one interaction with the conference speakers, Cell Press editors, and colleagues while enjoying a delicious dinner and local beer.

Eind februari namen we, na tien mooie jaren, met spijt afscheid van onze collega Liselot Waelput, die ervoor koos om terug te keren naar haar roots. Tegelijk verwelkomen we met veel plezier Eline Desimpel in ons team. Met haar ervaring in de hospitality sector en haar enthousiasme als Meeting Consultant maakt zij ons team weer compleet.
