🌍✨ Discovering Brussels through a Female Lens!
What a wonderful day spent with 18 Women from the Frauenpolitische Rat Potsdam Brandenburg (Women’s Political Council of Potsdam and Brandenburg led by Alexandra Pichl and Lily Bäßler) during a guided tour of Brussels through a Female Lens!
With Maxim as guide, the group explored the city through the stories and achievements of remarkable women:
👑 Queen Elisabeth of Belgium, a pioneer and surprisingly feminist figure for her time;
🔬 Marie Curie, the only woman present at the prestigious Solvay Conference, alongside Einstein and Planck;
🍫 The chocolatier Marie, the first women to open a Chocolaterie in Brussels, where we tested the « Mademoiselle » salty caramel praline
🙏 the often-overlooked role of women in the Catholic religion and the Beguines;
🏳️🌈 Brussels as a European hub for LGBTQ+ rights, with a stop at the RainbowHouse;
🚶♀️ and the thought-provoking Street of Stereotypes, which challenges us to rethink gender representation in public spaces.
It was a visit full of discoveries, exchange, and inspiration — enriching for both the guide and the participants of the Frauenpolitische Rat 🌸
