It's been a while since I visited the grave of John McCrae.
Strange, really, when I have spoken about him on countless tours.
Most people know the poem. I enjoy sharing the lesser-known stories also, including Bonneau the dog, Bonfire the horse (his "beautiful chestnut gentleman") and the little details that reveal a bit more about the man behind the famous words.
Even better today was sharing those stories with Ceriel (my step-son) 🥰💙.

By the way, I am currently on a family holiday. Where there is something WW1 related, Kimbo will find it. 😳

Standing beside the wrecks of HMS Crested Eagle and HMS Devonia at low tide this morning—silent, exposed, and still holding their place in the story.

Had such a great day yesterday watching them in action — impressive seeing how much goes into the videos i'm sure many of you have seen.
