With its emerald rivers, scenic landscapes and well-preserved heritage sites, Slovenia is considered one of Europe’s green gems for a good reason. The country achieved 96 out of 100 detailed sustainability indicators (think environment and climate, culture and authenticity, nature and biodiversity, among others.)
, the Slovenian Tourist Board, defined the focus on green, sustainable tourism as the right development opportunity for the country and its range of tourism products. It has several programs that contribute to the implementation of sustainability at the very heart of its operations. This week will be attending the SIW, the Slovenian Incoming Workshop. It’s a network event with crucial Slovenian business partners, representatives of various tourist providers, providers of accommodation and activities, and representatives of destinations, travel agencies and destination management companies (DMC). All with a specific focus on sustainable tourism. We look forward to discovering the best travel experiences providers that Slovenia has to offer and connect them with our travelers worldwide.

On international’s women day we want to pay tribute to some very special women. Here you see pictures that are taken from women in sustainable handicraft workplaces in Peru. These workplaces are managed by SOLID.
SOLID strongly believes that the joining of forces between socially responsible companies and non-profit organizations is an effective and sustainable way to fight poverty in the long term. And, more specifically, to improve the living conditions of disadvantaged people on a worldwide basis.
SOLID establishes and guides sustainable handicraft workplaces where disadvantaged people can be employed in an honest way and where the focus is on highly qualitative materials and authentic handicrafts. Via Fair Travel not only shares and encourages these ideas and values, we also want to be part of this world-wide growing movement of sustainable and fair trade and employment. That’s why we recently teamed up with SOLID to promote via our platform these wonderful initiatives. Conscious travelers/people will soon be able to buy, on demand and custom made, fashionable clothing made by these beautiful women. A true gain for everybody involved!

PERU: Qhispikay Sustainable Glamping (.glamping) takes luxury camping to rural communities of the Andean mountains, located in between Cusco city and Machu Pichu. It´s an incredible opportunity to the visitors that come to Peru to interact with authentic Peruvians. Qhispikay has set some health standards to the three families where it operates and built a full equipped bathroom with solar water heater. With this it improved the quality of life of their partners.
