Hyun Dekempe is of South Korean origin. At the age of four, he was adopted by a family from East Flanders. The kitchen table is his greatest source of inspiration. His work invites you to pull up a chair. And join in the conversation. In ‘Who set the world on fire?’, Hyun lays the geopolitical situation on the table. National animals of influential nations and superpowers end up on a platter. Ready to be consumed.

Didier 'Jaba' Mathieu (BE)
Eendrachtstraat 38

One of the pioneers.

Jaba blends comics, manga, anime and futuristic abstraction into explosive images.
Somewhere between painting and full-scale intervention.

From Colombia to Singapore to Senegal.
His work doesn’t stay in one place.

Patricia Ghijsens x Yorgos Maraziotis (BE/GR)
Langestraat 104

Two practices. One wall.

Moving between sculpture, painting and design, this duo works with contrast.
Ideas clash. Materials shift. Something new takes shape.

Sensitive. Honest. Raw.

For TCS26, they present their first large-scale mural together.

Alexis Diaz from Puerto Rico lets walls talk. The internationally acclaimed artist is known for his hyper-detailed black-and-white, almost ink-like murals. In them, dreams, animals, nature and human emotions merge into hybrid creatures. Vulnerability, metamorphosis and survival are recurring themes. Spot your star sign in his deep-blue universe.

A wall that pulls you in.

Yann L’Outsider (FR)
Sporthal Koninklijke Stallingen - Kaïrostraat 93

Letters in motion.

Working in black and white, Yann balances between legibility and abstraction.
What you read. What you feel.

His murals move like calligraphy.
Almost dancing across the wall.

Graffiti, stretched to its limits.

Every year, the walls of The Crystal Ship receive their first coat: primer. That blank start is painted by our Prime Team: a group of young Flemish artists.

The hands behind the primer.
The artists before the art.
During this first exhibition you will see their own work in the THUISHAVEN.

🔔You can visit the expo until 30/06 at THUISHAVEN, Kursaal-Oosthelling 3.

Larsen Bervoets (BE)
Leeuwerikenstraat 187

Contrast as a language.

Larsen builds his murals from geometry and tension.
Sharp edges. Bold colour clashes.

Nothing sits still.

But what happens when those elements meet the city?
And the people passing by?

Lula Goce grew up breathing in the salty sea air of Galicia. The Spanish muralist developed her technique on the streets of Barcelona. Her portraits are powerful and dreamlike, rendered in distinctive colours and often with a connection to nature. In Ostend, she is exhibiting ‘EVE’: the story of the first woman, reimagined by the sea. The flowers and dunes are characteristic of the Ostend coastline.

Stefaan Vermuyten (BE)
Landbouwersstraat 2

A return.

After stepping away from painting, Stefaan came back.
And kept going.

His work moves between figure and abstraction.
Always searching. Never fixed.

Now on a mural scale.

When is a work ever… really finished?

Sarah Yu Zeebroek is an artist, illustrator and musician. The Belgian artist, who has Chinese roots, illustrates for newspapers, magazines and bands. Her drawings are seemingly simple and playful. Characteristic features include strange creatures, unexpected combinations and slightly absurd humour. In ‘’t Kadaster’, she refers to where the waves between Hong Kong and Ostend have taken her. The colours? You fill those in yourself
