7 buses. 23 journalists. 300 kilometres of real-world testing. One question: which intercity bus performs best? 🚌

The Bus Euro Test 2026 marked a special edition dedicated entirely to intercity buses. The contenders were put through acceleration, braking and charging tests, followed by a 300 km drive on typical regional routes.

This year’s line-up brought together:
IVECO Bus Crossway Elec 13m NF, MAN Lion’s City 12 E LE, Otokar e-Territo, Scania Castrosua Hero PHEV, Setra MultiClass S 515 LE, Solaris Urbino 15 LE Electric and Yutong IC 12 E.

From conversations with operators, decision-makers, industry stakeholders and public authorities, one thing became clear: Southern Africa is moving forward, at its own pace, with growing attention for decarbonisation, EV buses, green energy and long-term public transport investment.

Busworld’s role is to keep connecting people, countries and industries — and SABOA was a valuable step in that direction.
