A week ago I visited the grave of James Sneddon in Railway Dugouts/Transport Farm cemetery, Ypres.
James was a tunneller, killed during the underground war; more than a century later, his final resting place remains a quiet reminder of the men who fought and died in the tunnels and trenches beneath this notorious piece of ground.
I had asked my group to watch the excellent film Beneath Hill 60 before our visit, featuring both James and his son Walter, who James had signed-up to protect….
Lest we forget.
