Living abroad as an expat isn't always rainbows and butterflies, but in Jocelyn's opinion..... it's still better than staying "stuck" in the (boring) comfort zone! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
She often gets asked what she misses most about back home, and since her youngest daughter Azalea was born in Costa Rica she would definitely say that Family is the #1 thing she misses from back home. Due to the global situation, she hasn't been able to see her grandparents in over 2 years. They've never even met Azalea in person! (thankful for technology!) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The seasons are nice too...(Costa Rica doesn't have the "normal" 4 seasons like Canada does)... and snow in moderation, but she'd take sunshine and a bathing suit over layers and freezing cold any day. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
On a positive note - her now life partner is Costa Rican which makes expat living a *little* simpler, especially because she is still working on her spanish, BUT! navigating parenting with a person that has grown up with cultural differences adds an extra interesting element. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

{Seeing with new eyes} One of our favorite things about travel is how things you glaze over in your daily life at home become fascinating. When we are dropped into a new city, a new grocery store, or a new street, we notice life in a fresh way.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

We are a holistic minded, travel loving family living on the pacific coast of Costa Rica. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

But things weren’t always this warm and sunny… Jocelyn and her two older children are originally from the snowy mountains of Canada. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

She was a single parent, building her business in the health + wellness industry during nap times and after bedtime for 2 years before she was financially in a place to be able to promise herself the escape from the freezing north! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
She booked a 1 way flight for her and her two little kids (who were 2 + 4 years old at the time) to Costa Rica….. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

… and they haven’t been back since.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Oh and they’ve grown by two humans, two dogs and a cat. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
