It was opened on June 22 2019, covers 50 hectares and offers the visitors an interactive trip more than 10,000 years of human civilization. The Historical Park in Bulgaria is situated 35 km west of Varna near the picturesque village of Neofit Rilski, Vetrino municipality. The park was opened on June 22nd 2019 and covers 50 hectares which fact makes it the largest historical, cultural and education
al complex of its kind in the world. The Historical Park offers the visitors an interactive trip more than 10,000 years of human civilization. It welcomes you with the impressive statue of the Thracian archer and you enter the site through the reconstructed medieval fortress of the Second Bulgarian kingdom. First is prehistorical period – Neolithic and Chalcolithic ones. It consists of reconstructed houses, which were found during archeological excavations in different regions in Bulgaria. You can see there instruments of production of those periods, ceramic dishes and weapons which were reconstructed under the supervision of scientists. It is presented by reconstructed temple of Goddess Cybele (found in the town of Balchik), king Seuthes III castle and three Thracian tombs. There are copies of treasures, weapons and armour of that period. There are statues of Spartacus, Thracian kings and soldiers. Early Bulgarian middle ages consist of:
- Slavic settlement with typical houses, weapons and dishes;
- Bulgarian aul with typical yurts including a big one – of a khan, weapons, dishes and etc. The Historical Park offers different interactive activities – archery, horse riding, boat trip on the lake, medieval duels, ritual wine drinking, ancient coin minting and etc. There are two restaurants which offer delicious dishes cooked to ancient Thracian and Bulgarian recipes. This year they are:
- The III international exhibition for historical painting, called the Guardians of Orthodoxy – it started on the 1 of May and it’s till 31 of May;
- The II international medieval festival, called New Beginning – 18-19 of June;
- Herbal festival 16-17 of July;
- International ancient festival, called ODRIUZA, Cradle of the Thousand Cities, 30-31 of July;
- II international festival of traditional and healthy food, 20-21 of August;
- III international archery festival, 24-25 of September.
