🍞 Bread and Salt – The Bulgarian Way of Saying “Welcome” 🇧🇬

In Bulgaria, guests are traditionally welcomed with bread and salt – a custom that has been passed down through generations.

🍞 Bread symbolizes life, prosperity, abundance, and the warmth of the home. Sharing bread means opening both your house and your heart to your guests.

🧂 Salt symbolizes friendship, trust, and the wish that every relationship remains strong and lasting. In the past, salt was a precious gift, making this gesture even more meaningful.

This is how I welcome my guests before we begin exploring the hidden treasures of Bulgaria together. Because every journey should start not as a tour, but as a heartfelt welcome.

At Etnotrek Travel, we don’t just show places – we preserve, honor, and share the traditions that make Bulgaria unique.

Come as a visitor. Leave as a friend. ❤️
