We loved watching Keith & Dev’s latest vlog! It’s wonderful to see our guests try the acoustics of the Roman Theatre, "struggle" with some of the Bulgarian tongue-twisting words and fall in love with the layers of history that make Plovdiv (Europe’s oldest inhabited city) so special.

But as any local will tell you, the "City of the Seven Hills" is about much more than just the past! Once you’ve explored the ruins, there’s a vibrant modern world waiting for you.

Staro Zhelezare Street Art Village to us is a symbol of uniqueness, authenticity, art and controversy
In Staro Zhelezare, reality gets reimagined on every corner. Village walls become meeting places where presidents mingle with cartoon characters and neighbors — blending political satire, playful humor, and everyday moments into something you won't find anywhere else. This tiny Bulgarian village has quietly transformed into one of Eastern Europe's most striking open-air galleries, where each mural explores themes of culture, identity, and contemporary life. Proof that the smallest communities can make the biggest statements. And their statements are thought provoking.

❤️ The strong roots mixed with a future vision: The entire artistic project is led by a Bulgarian artist who brings students from Poland each year. It's a beautiful testament to the deep roots we have with our birthplaces and families.

🌱 Our hope is that tourists will purchase local hand-made souvenirs and food in order to support the local economy, traditions and pride. Staro Zhelezare is a typical Bulgarian village, not a touristic place.
