✍️✍️Prasat Baksei Chamkrong is a small Hindu temple located in the Angkor archaeological complex in Siem Reap, Cambodia. It is dedicated to Shiva and used to hold a golden image of him. The temple can be seen on the left side when entering Angkor Thom at the southern gate. It was dedicated to Yasovarman by his son, King Harshavarman I. The temple was completed by Rajendravarman II (944–968). It was built during the 10th century by King Yasovarman I, who ruled the Khmer Empire from 889 to 910 AD. 🔥🥀

✅Baksei Chamkrong is a pyramid-like structure made of sandstone, and it is a representation of the early Khmer temple architecture. The temple originally had a central sanctuary tower, which is now in a ruined state, but it still holds significance due to its historical value. The temple is known for its distinctive steep steps leading to the top, which is a characteristic feature of Khmer architecture during this period.

🫶Its name, "Baksei Chamkrong," means "The Bird that Shelters Under Its Wings" in Khmer, likely referring to the protective aspect of the temple or its design, which may have symbolized shelter or protection.
