We were fortunate to watch at close range a male Jaguar taking down a capybara on the Caxiri River.
Those who know him, call him "the Pirate", from a blind eye he earned defending his hunting ground. To our surprise, after following him for over an hour, he jumped straight onto the back of an adult capybara, putting it to death with his trade mark bite on the back of its skull.

We hosted the crew of Natgeo in co-operation with Hotel Pantanal Norte, Porto Jofre for 26 days while making a documentary about jungles & jaguars in and around the Meeting of the Waters State Park, Porto Jofre. They managed to record 5 jaguar attacks: 2 caimen, 2 anaconda snakes and 1 iguana!
