Itapema is a seaside town approximately 45 minutes north of Florianópolis, Brazil. When visiting today, I was pleasantly surprised to find the folks at A.D.I with their accessible beach chairs. It’s my first time trying one of these chairs and I loved being able to get into the sea with my dignity intact, for the first time in my life (all previous times I’ve had to crawl on my hands and knees).

From December 13 to March 8, these wonderful people are present every Saturday and Sunday!

Here’s some cool news that ties in nicely with one of our featured accessible rental listings: Galveston, TX has officially received “Destination Verified” status from Wheel the World.

“With over 50 verified accessible locations on the island, you are certain to find just the right places to stay, eat, and play while visiting the Texas Gulf Coast.”

We have Ocean’s 16Eleven listed on our site as a possible place to stay while in the area: https://theworldisaccessible.com/wheelchair-accessible-beach-house-galveston/

Important access note: the property does not have a roll-in shower, but does have a shower seat positioned over a bathtub for those that can transfer.

Step-free, pet-friendly beach retreat just 200 steps from the sand. Wide doors, grab bars, ramp access & family comforts make it perfect for all travelers.

Hey guys! It may have been quite some years since I was in New Zealand, but my time there still sticks firmly in the memory. In this recollection piece, I discuss an epic road trip I took across the South Island, with a little help from the lovely folks at Freedom Mobility.

You'll also find a link within the blog that'll take you the website of The Headwaters Eco Lodge, which has a couple of fantastic accessible rooms in picturesque Glenorchy!

Paris was a dream, but it definitely kept us on our toes! 🇫🇷

I’ve finally finished writing about our three days in the city. I wanted to be as honest as possible about how accessible it really is, while still capturing the magic of being there.

It’s a bit of a "long-read," but I’m really proud of how this piece turned out. I hope it inspires some of you to tackle your next big trip!

Paris in a Wheelchair: Our Three-Day Itinerary in the City of Love A word to the wise: this blog post is incredibly long. My longest ever! I really enjoyed writing it, and I hope you will enjoy reading it. It felt a shame to cut bits out, and I wanted to be as detailed and […]

Travel doesn’t always have to mean going far or doing something big. This piece is a gentle reminder that accessible adventures can start close to home — with the right planning, the right mindset, and space to enjoy the day without pressure.

Finding Adventure Nearby: A Practical Guide to Accessible Day Trips Imagine: sitting on the red train seats, looking out the window as the sun goes down (the way I am as I write this article). Or, laughing at the bus tour guide’s jokes in the valley between two enormous mountains. Or, tucking a us...

We're already seeing some pretty negative comments being left on our latest piece about Air France, including from Stephane, who, after finding out that their chair was broken, was told to take a taxi to their home in Liege from CDG. They were told that the cost of doing so would be covered by the airline. This taxi ride cost Stephane € 900,00 and, needless to say, Air France is now refusing to reimburse.

I just uploaded my ninth review on Zamonos, which turned out to be my first review of a hotel. The easyHotel Paris Charles de Gaulle Villepinte!

I discovered that when reviewing accommodations, additional feature topics are available to you — such as ‘stay’ and ‘bathing’. This allowed me to add extra important information to my review, such as that there was a ‘barrier-free shower’ and a ‘shower seat’. As well as ‘lowered furniture’ and ‘lowered light switches’.

These pivotal nuances help create a more rounded review, leaving others informed and helping with their (and your) decision-making process.

[Image descriptions: The first image shows a spacious, fully accessible bathroom equipped with multiple grab bars, an emergency pull cord, a wall-mounted sink with clearance underneath, and a roll-in shower area featuring a foldable seat and handheld showerhead. The second image depicts a clean, modern hotel room with a neatly made double bed, large windows with dark curtains, simple décor in neutral tones, and a wooden floor, creating a bright yet minimalist atmosphere.]

Please forgive our lack of original images in this Zamonos review. It was raining heavily at the time, and we didn't have an umbrella. Plus, my fingers were freezing, and my phone was almost dead! Not a great mix when in the back of your mind, you're trying to plan for a review!

Alas, though, not much needs to be said about the Eiffel Tower that hasn't already been said. I find the tower to be quite accessible (this was my second time visiting the second-floor deck). The only small difficulty we encountered—mainly noticeable because of the cold and rain—was finding the entrance, ticketing booth, and elevator. However, once we found the ticket booth, the staff were very helpful and quickly directed us to the elevator, and before we knew it, we were gazing out over all of Paris.

Will you join us in leaving access reviews of places you've visited? They can be from your own backyard!

[ALT Text: Two images show wheelchair-accessible features at the base and interior of the Eiffel Tower. The first image depicts an exterior view near one of the tower’s massive iron legs, with a smooth, gently sloped ramp leading toward an entrance area that includes security checkpoints and small ticket or information booths; metal railings and low concrete barriers line the path, and the surrounding plaza is open and well-paved. The second image shows an indoor area of the tower with bright yellow double doors marked with wheelchair-accessibility symbols; the doors are set within a wooden-floored landing enclosed by windows and metal framework, indicating access to an elevator or restricted area for visitors with reduced mobility.]
