👮‍♂️Safe City

For the second consecutive year, Petrópolis was elected the safest city in Rio de Janeiro.

Petrópolis had the lowest rate of violence. The city appears as the safest in the Atlas of Violence 2019, prepared by the Institute of Applied Economic Research (Ipea) and the Brazilian Forum on Public Security (FBSP), released in 2019.

Petrópolis is known for its tranquility and security.

The safety of Petrópolis is one of the reasons that attracts more and more people to visit the city.

📍Country Club Castle

Built between the 30's and 40's to serve as a summer residence, Castelo Country Club, in addition to being beautiful on the outside, has charming details on the inside, such as paintings that came to be exhibited at the Official Salon of Fine Arts, embossed panels and stained glass.

With panoramic views and charming scenery in the four seasons of the year, the castle with medieval-style features softened with contemporary touches was sold to a group of investors and is now used for events, weddings and various celebrations.

📍Binot orchid garden

Founded in 1870 by Pedro Maria Binot, son of the Frenchman Jean Baptista Binot, in charge of designing and executing the gardens of the Imperial Palace.

Internationally renowned, it has numerous varieties of orchids and exports to other countries, its main market being the United States, Germany and Japan.

It was the first one of its kind in Brazil 🌺

📍Trono de Fátima

The monument was designed by Heitor da Silva Costa, the same author of the Christ the Redeemer project.

It’s 14m high and has a privileged view of the Historic Center.

The image of Our Lady of Fátima, weighs four tons and measures 3.5m, and that of the angel Gabriel on the dome, 1m high, were carved in white marble by the Italian Enrico Arrighini.

The dome is supported by seven columns, representing the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Built in 1947, in honor of Nossa Senhora de Fátima, as a place of prayer, through donations, religious parties and promotions in a work that moved the entire Catholic community of Petrópolis.

📍Paraíso Açú Adventure Camp

📍Rio Negro Palace

The Palace was built by the Baron of Rio Negro in 1889, shortly before the Proclamation of the Republic.

In a few years, it had several uses, as a private residence, seat of the state government and city hall until, in 1903, it became the official summer residence of the Presidents of the Republic.

📍 Casa do Alemão

Casa do Alemão has a Germanic reference in its name and menu, but the story of the bakery that became a restaurant chain, famous for bread with sausage and croquettes, was written, among other entrepreneurs, by a couple who came from Europe, but from other sides: the former Yugoslavia.

The company was created in 1945 by four partners. It was the Quitandinha Bakery. It all started with the shortbread cookies.

There were no croquettes, none of that. A few years later, three of the partners left the business and only Joubert Fontaine, of French-Belgian origin, remained.

He was calling his brothers and brother-in-law to the company. In 1958, the Yugoslavian couple Stjepan and Julka Kern brought the sausages.

For José Afonso Guedes Vaz, 70 years old, managing partner, which has nine branches and 550 employees, unity and dedication are the ingredients of success.
