Carimbó is pure rhythm, movement, and ancestral memory.
Born in the state of Pará, with strong Afro-Brazilian and Indigenous roots, carimbó is one of the most powerful expressions of Amazonian culture. This beautiful moment was captured at the Carimbó party at Feira do Açaí, in Belém — where, late at night, people gather to dance, sing, and celebrate life in the historic heart of the city.
Surrounded by colonial houses and just steps away from the Forte do Presépio, the sound of the curimbó (the traditional wooden drum that gives the rhythm its name), maracas, and voices fills the air. It’s impossible not to feel how alive and deeply rooted this culture is.
A huge thank you to for their cultural resistance and for keeping this tradition alive by organizing this gathering every Sunday evening.
This video was filmed in November 2025, during COP-30, showing that Belém’s culture doesn’t pause — it pulses.
✨ Culture. Identity. Resistance.
This is Belém.
